I just scored a package of Mexican loteria cards (like bingo, but with pictures), which I'm planning to photocopy at work and decoupage all over everything. I usually use them to make 7-day candles, but was wondering if anybody had any really good suggestions for what else to use them on!

you could get some iron-on transfer papers and make some cool shirts or pillows, little bags, then you could out line some of the pictures with beads or glitter for an even cooler look. that's what i've been doing with my loteria cards. you could decoupage them onto candles, boxes, note cards, a chair or table might look really cool.

i know an artist who makes belts and purses and she puts loteria cards in them. they are great. i have used the cards to decorate my room. some are on my walls and some hanging above my window with string.

I found a really cheap plywood table at Pic N Save, and I decoupaged Lotteria cards on the outer legs, it came out really cute, for the rest of the table I plan on painting it a really bright color, but since it has been two years I think it's safe to assume I won't get to the painting part. You could also put them around a wood frame mirror or on a homemade journal cover.

Your website is fabulous!!! (Having grown up in Tucson, I have a bit of a Mexican-style folk art fetish myself!) I've gotten some great inspiration and some ideas on where to shop for my friend Heather's birthday present. If there's any chance you guys could do some of those day of the dead figures or 40-oz vases with an Elvis theme I would be totally thrilled!!!

Anyways, I'm going to start by decoupaging the loteria cards around the frame of a cork board for my office. I'll keep you all posted on what else I come up with. My desk could certainly use some refurbishing... I was thinking of covering the top with a bunch of Mexican movie poster themed postcards I got (maybe under a sheet of glass. What do you all think?

I decoupage the game cards to frames, then cut out the middle. It makes a funky looking frame. Then paint over with a bit of Mod Podge, and it looks really really nice.

Any ideas on where to get Mexican loteria cards? I still haven't found any.

i've been looking high and low for loteria cards to no avail, is there an online source for them???

By LaurieLu On 01/28/01

Audrey,
I have bought several sets of loteria cards on EBAY for very cheap - like $3 a set. If there are none there, you can get them online at:>http://www.buymexicanfolkart.com/folkart.html
buy they are a little more expensive. This is a good site for ideas to make Mexican folk art - cool stuff.
