Okay, I just thought I'd start a general thread for stuff we found at national/regional chains so others might be tipped off.

I found these ADORABLE little wooden boxes at Walmart for .99. I bought one that looks like a treasure chest and I've stained it and I'm currently sealing it with mod podge for my boy. We have a pirate thang going on ;) But there were lots of shapes and I'm sure you crafty folk could come up with tons of ideas for them. They're about 4"x2" and about 3" tall.

I found something so cute at Michael's but had no money at the time. Damn. In the isle with the paper mache boxes, they have the usual paper mache reindeer, but they also have flat star-shaped ornaments that have a clear plastic window and a little slit in the side for slipping in a pic or drawing.
I immediately thought, Christmas cards! But wound up making a different ornament for the front of my cards.

ed.: I bought 5 today! Yay! The rest of their paper mache stuff was really wiped out, though. I wonder if it actually sold b/c of the holidays, or if they're limiting their stock now...
