well, at least, I think so. I made my parents two toss pillows with the chinese symbols for mother and father on them. One is bobbin "drawn"(?) and the other is appliqued. wanna see?>http://melimade.fuzzyspaceoutpost.com/chinesepillows.html

neat gift. I'm sure they'll love them :o)

This is going to sound totally flaky because I can't remember the title of the book.... but there's a Singer sewing book that came out in the early 90's I think - it goes through and gives basic sewing directions. One of the chapters deals with machine embroidery - they cover things like the bobbin thing, couching, a technique where you place scraps of fabric, yarn, thread, whatever between pieces of tulle, and sew all over it to hold it together.... I don't know, does this sound anyway familiar? If not, I'll look up the name of the book - they give great descriptions of all sorts of nifty techniques, with ample pictures. I figured you might be interested, after seeing the bobbin thing....

Thanks! Doesn't sound familiar but definitely sounds interesting! I love crafty books. I have SO SO many. Actually, way too many that have a lot of the same projects!
does anyone else have ALL the stitch by stitch books? :P
