Topic New MS Kids - felting/fulling Go to previous topic Go to next topic Go to higher level

hey there,
I just got the new issue of Martha Stewart Kids and there is a whole article in there about felting/fulling wool. She uses the raw wool and doesn't really touch on recycling wool sweaters or anything, but the projects are so darned cute (finger puppets, purses, felt-ball necklaces) and geared towards kids, so you know it must be easy! :)
Check it out!

PS: the source they give for the wool is www.halcyonyarn.com... but it seems expensive - does anyone know another source, or are their prices about what you'd pay anywhere?

oh how much did I jump up and down with excitement when I saw ms kids in the supermarket (much to the chagrin of my companions in the 10-items-or-less line)??

and I'm so excited about the felting, though I'm sure the process is a bit challenging, anyhow. I mean, she made that kiddie fort with expensive european canvas.

there was another suppliar in the back, peacefleece.com.
it's less expensive.

heh. i bought the ms kids too. i'm glad i'm not the only one.
and i noticed the marimekko fabric at (40 bucks a yard) for the kid's fort. hmmm...

40 bucks a YARD???

kiss my ass, martha the tramp. :P

I know, I couldn't *believe* she used Marimekko fabric in the fort! Although the fort was super-cool . . . But I won't even spend the $40 to buy a yard to hang on my wall.

Well, it's Martha, ya gotta love her (or hate her)!

The felting article was really interesting. I was way more into MS Kids than regular old MSL. I can't wait to see if this turns into a regular thing (or maybe it already & I just haven't seen it).

by the way, I think Glitter's own Evilducky sells a fair amount of Marimekko on ebay (at least I think it's her -- I seem to be full of potential misinformation tonight). Anyway, the prices seem to be pretty reasonable.
