i just bought a pile of old wool sweaters at the buy-the-pound and am eager to get a'feltin'. i know there are instructions on this site, and i have read them, but if anyone's done this before and has tips to add, i'd appreciate them.

i'm gona get over to the laundromat in a bit to see what i can do. wash hot, rinse cold! i take it i will be separating colours and all? i'm hoping i won't have to repeat the process more than once.

so i'm talkin' to meself here... but anyway - i ran all the sweaters through on hot. that consists of a warm rinse, hot washing then three cold rinses.

this shrunk one sweater up, and the others a little bit, too. for good measure i through them all into the dryer on hot for 30 minutes. no dice!

now i am plunging each sweater in my bathroom sink. hot then cold and repeat... i wonder if this will work. i was pretty disappointed with the washing machine results. how many times do i need to do this?!

i am far too impatient.

I haven't tried felting, but I thought that this thread may help you if you haven't already seen it :)

Did you add any soap? It helps, I hear. I only had to put mine in the washer once, and I hung them out to dry. It worked for me. But I did use about a half capful of detergent.
