Oh wise women of glitter: I fear that my beloved knee high boots no longer zip up, due to the *um*, *muscular* quality of my legs. Aside from making my legs smaller, which will take a while and is therefore not an attractive option, is there anything I can do to fix this problem? Can I stretch the legs of my boots? I have heard that spraying a solution of alcohol and water on the boots might help. Has anyone had experience with this? Please help.

I have no idea if this actually works, but you could at least give it a shot. I once read in the Tightwad Gazette about lining boots with a garbage bag, filling it with water, and then freezing it(either outside or in a freezer). The water expands as it freezes(that's right, isn't it?), so it stretches the boot.

I have stretched boots, but I used a boot stretch compound that one can buy at a shoe store or a shoe repair store. It worked, but I have no idea how much it costs. I used my friend's stuff.

I have the same problem!! I think I am going to take my boots to a shop though, because they are front zip & I'm worried I'll break the zipper... If the stretch compound works though, that sounds cool.

i used to work at Nine West. they have a stretching solution and wooden stretchers for shoes. if you go in there with your boots they might stretch them for you or give you a recommendation. i wouldn't try doing this on your own. i worked in a shoe store for a long time and it can screw them up. especially if you stretch too much on the seam. hope that helps

I solved the problem. What I did probably won't win me any popularity contests at Nine West, but it worked fine for me. I found vase in my apartment slighly wider then the circumference of my leg, and I stuck it in my boot. In the morning, the boot fit perfectly, and now that I've worn them around a while, they're becoming comfier and comfier by the day.

Hey! How about that search function? Whohee! I think I will try the vase or something else I may find around the apartment.

That vase thing ought to work for pullons, too. But... I don't understand. If the boot won't zip over a leg, how will it zip over a vase? I have a pair of boots with the same problem. I love these boots, bought on e-bay, but have never been able to wear them.

OK, I got them on, wore them all over town & then got a killer charley horse when I was trying to take them off. Doomed! doomed! I tell you!

Well, I ride horses so I wear leather tall boots, chaps, etc . I know at the places where I see boots for sale they have special machines, stretching solutions, and there's also the spray that will make boots slide on better for pull ons. jus my 2 cents.
