Topic frappuccino bottle caps Go to previous topic Go to next topic Go to higher level

hi, I am a constant drinker of the bottled starbuck's frappuccinos and I was just looking at the tops today and wondering what I could do with them besides just throwing them away.

My roommate saw me inspecting two of them and asked if I was making a yo-yo (I thought that was cute but wouldn't know how to make it).

I was also thinking about gluing two together to make ornaments. Does anybody know what tool I might need to poke a hole through the metal?

And the other idea I had was to glue or attach them like tiles in a border around our door or cover like a cardboard box with dozens of them. The only drawback is I would need to use non-permanent glue because I would need to remove them from my dorm eventually.

Any other suggestions on how to recycle them?

I MADE my boyfreind paint a Frappacino bottle today with enamel paint. He didn't want to do it at first, but he got into it after a while and made something really beautiful. You can peel the Starbucks logo off fairly easily. It's not painted on.

I think that the jars' lids could be made into really cute picture frames that a magnet could be affixed to the back of. They're great as is for beading projects, for mixing small amounts of colors. If you don't have a drill to make a hole to hang an ornament, you could glue two back to back with the ribbon hanger (or whatever) caught in between the two lids.

You could poke holes in them w/ a regular nail n hammer. if you had a tree, you could poke holes in em.. and string them from it.. goes good w/ shells. and pieces of driftwood. That's what I did w/ mine..till it fell over. =(

i saw a belt a few weeks ago at some store in the mall. it had various bottle caps all over it and it was like $35. i thought it was cute but i thought i could do something just as creative.
the caps had holes in the middle and were attached to an ordinary belt with some sort of metal rivet.
anyhow i can't remember how big the frappucino lids are-maybe too big for a belt. maybe good for a dog collar or a purse strap?
they would look kinda cool in those sheer drapes with the pockets in them.

was also thinking of making them into little castanets by attaching some kind of fabric or something to keep on fingers

if you really wanted to make a yo-yo, all you would have to do is glue a piece of pvc pipe in between the two. that is, if you still want to make one...

or a spool between two, that's how i used to make yo-yos when i was a wee one.
