Any ideas or stories out there? I want to hear everything, but in particular I'm wondering what I can do with a cute Cibo Matto t-shirt that is HUGE.
Thanks in advance,
Abigail

you could cut up the seams on the sides and snip off the excess so you could safety pin up the sides. I also saw something that was really cute that you could do on the sides in a catalog. Buying ribbon (striped looks good) and sewing the sides to it so that you have stripes running out your armpits, heh. as for length, I can't think of anything more creative that cutting it and hemming in back up, maybe cutting in a zig-zag pattern? anyway, those are my ideas.

My first post!

I knew a girl once who made a very large T-shirt into a dress. If your t-shirt is long enough to do this, you can take in the sides to create whatever dress-shape you'd like. She also cut off the sleeves...that's up to you.

have fun!

I have a bunch of band tshirts that I love the design on, but have either gotten too small, or the armpits turned yellow so I was thinking I would just cut out the design and sew it onto another plain tshirt (like one from a men's 3-pack of undershirts)
Speaking of undershirts, I always find them a bit see-thru, so I've been using fusible interfacing cut into strips and I fuse it onto the inside of the tshirt - viola! A less-see-thru shirt, with a neat subtle stripey pattern.
I have a bunch of men's button-down shirts that I am planning on doing *something* with, but I just haven't figured it out yet.
hm.
Well, good luck!

i like the idea of pinning images/things on to a well-fitted t-shirt (of a fairly sturdy fabric). that way you have so many possibilities that fit just right. even swatches of nice material or a knitted bit (i got lots of compliments on this). i guess it depends how big the image on the cibo matto shirt is...if it's full sized then it'll look a little silly...but if it'll fit nicely on your chest, then you could just snip it and safety pin away.

i just hacked away at a triumph t-shirt that was too big and ended up with a very sassy halter. it knots at the back of my neck and at my lower back so you have to rock bra-less (benefits of tiny boobs!). i cut the sleeves off, cut out the collar, and trimmed the bottom. easy and super cute!

i made a skirt out of an old stretched out t. i cut from the armpit on each side down to the neck to make a pointy hem line. then i took a draw string and strung it through the original t's bottom hem. presto chango! it took literally 7 minutes beginning to end. i used an old shoe lace for the drawstring. it looks cool if you kind of bunch all of the material over the butt, bustle style.

As always, I am amazed by you glitterati and your ideas. I'm going to start playing with and cutting at my cibo matto shirt tonight, I'll keep you posted. retro zenith, I'm definitely going to try to copycat your skirt, although not with the cibo matto shirt as the background is white and I wouldn't trust myself with a white skirt. Also, laurac, welcome! For me, after that first post, glitter lost its initial scariness and has become a beloved habit, and I hope it will be the same for you.
