Oh, this is funny!

My friend used to walk to and from school with David Beckham every day. Back then he used to fancy her friend.

Another firend of mine is cousin's with the Australian guy who used to be on Baywatch. The funniest thing about it is that they are so the least people in the world you would imagine related.

Many others actually connected with me but more UK very minor celebs!!

By looloo On 03/26/04

I just remembered I had another (somewhat shameful) link. My best friend was boyfriend/girlfriend with 2 of the members of limpbizkit in elementary school. And I once played "stalk a boy" with one of them at a club (before they were "anybody") My friend James and I would pick a boy and stare at them and whisper...

By teriyakipuck On 03/27/04

amigarabita, WHERE did you see Steven Tyler??? I think I would die of a heart attack.
Actually, I almost had a heart attack when I went to Texas Roadhouse wearing my Aerosmith shirt, and the manager came around to the tables chatting. My dad is a talker and somehow they mentioned I painted a pic of Steven Tyler, and the manager says
"Joe Perry was in here last Sunday" He sat at the bar and ordered ribs"
and I about shat myself. I was so nervous thinking about him being in the same building, that I can't IMAGINE how I would act if I ever saw him in person.

Rod BrindAmour, the awesome NHL'er has a summer home in the next little town to me. I tried stalking him but never saw him. But the local pizza guy got an autographed photo and hung it in his pizza shop. I told Eddie (pizza guy) that I wanted to deliver Rod's next pizza! It's amazing because there is very little hockey in Indaiana. He'd probably be amazed if someone recognized him. I think I'd pass out if I saw him in WalMart. <sigh>

By amigarabita On 03/28/04

i worked at a bar on lake sunnappee where he and some of the boys were from and now have fancy summer homes. i actually saw steven tyler's house too, from the lake. it is huge, of course. st is around all the time in the summer so if you wanted to meet him in person you could just start being a bar fly in sunnappee, nh!

i used to live near phil hartman's sister-in-law, who became guardian of his children after his death.

i was visiting an aunt one day, and the movie 'jingle all the way' was being filmed outside her office building. i saw arnold schwarzenegger, phil hartman and sinbad. yep -- sinbad.

another aunt lives in wabasha, minnesota, where the movie 'grumpy old men' took place. they filmed tiny parts there, but i saw a few of the people in it while i was visiting her.

and yet another aunt lives in the town seann william scott grew up in. she knows his mother. (this guy and his family sure are popular here...)

a friend's family sold their cabin to michael jordan.

my grandpa used to live in duluth, mn. his family knew an abraham zimmerman -- bob dylan's father.

a long time ago i became friends with a girl online. she used to play drums for the band lillix before they were famous and started doing contact commercials. :p

a friend's brother is friends with the niece of john lithgow.

and another friend's cousin was in the movie 'little giants.' if you've seen it (it's like 10 years old; someone besides me must have seen it when they were younger...), he's the skinny kid with the glasses and the, uh, snot... bubble. :/

and a super lame one: my mom used to work with someone who went to college with... kato kaelin. i've also seen him a few times. apparently he comes here every once in a while and does stupid things like judging contests at the bars. you know, when he's not busy not being famous.

i have a very indirect link to a ton of people (in a six degrees of kevin bacon way) thanks to my great, great (i think) aunt, an actress named spring byington. she was in *tons* of movies and worked with so many stars. often. not little one-time deals. it's absolutely insane... a very condensed list of those stars: katharine hepburn, clark gable, errol flynn, bette davis, jimmy stewart, shirley temple, ginger rogers, judy garland, eva gardner, elizabeth taylor, gene kelly, tony curtis, and lionel barrymore (drew barrymore's great uncle).

By vibrantcows On 03/28/04

My neighbor's sister partied with Kenny Chesney on his boat down in the Carribean.

My friend's uncle is Pete Sampras. He said the only cool "special" thing they ever got was Nike duffel bags full of Nike stuff when they were little.

My friend's sister's friend sat and had a drink at the bar with Paul Ryder. (Rider? Anyways, the guy of Varsity Blues and Fast and the Furious Fame)

By Katrin On 03/28/04

Good.disaster, you live(d) in Thief River Falls? I'm from Grand Forks and probably knew other relatives of that family (their name is familiar to me anyway).

My dad went to college with Meadowlark Lemon of the Harlem Globetrotters.

The woman who played "The Empath" in the original Star Trek episode of the same name - both my parents went to high school with her.

My sister's then-roommate once went on a date with Marc Price, Skippy from Family Ties. Skippy was in my sister's house! (She said he was really, really high the whole time.)

My husband met Bill Clinton twice when he was governor of Arkansas.

An online acquaintance of mine is friends with Weird Al Yankovic. I attended a Moxy Früvous concert where he was also there with her - must have walked by them a dozen times and not recognized him. At the time I only knew her online and not by sight. (Are Moxy Früvous famous enough to count on this list? 'Cause I know them.)

A bunch of people I know used to be friends with Mike Anderson, the "little man from another place" from Twin Peaks. He's originally from Denver and was just one of their crowd.

I watched a scene from "Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead" (with Andy Garcia) being filmed a block from where I lived at the time. Still haven't seen the movie though.

My ex-boyfriend dated Melissa Gilbert's cousin in high school.

Two people I know have met Kevin Bacon.

I know Connie Willis, the author.

ETA: Jeansweasel - just saw your post about Beej of the Suburbs! I LOVED them! Saw 'em a couple of times in college. (I was even glad to hear that song of theirs in the Target commercial.)

By swank On 03/28/04

who knew there were so many people with ties to Thief River Falls on glitter . . .

By crazy_bout_you On 03/28/04

caropop- i am so jealous of your friend who had the thing with kyan from queer eye! i am so in love with him. if only he wasn't gay..but that is besides the point.

but brad pitt is from springfield, which is where i live

By bloominglotus On 03/29/04

My grandmother (who lives in Springfield MO) once saw Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston on the street while they were there visiting his family.
Also, last itme I checked, the Pitts were still listed in the phone book. Ummm, I wouldn't.

John Goodman took a drink from my brother's forty at a frat party at Southwest Missouri State. He was down there for a big drama department thing while my bro was a student. Walked right up next to him, took a leak on a bush, and asked him for a drink. Weird.

My best friend's husband was in a popular local band, and met the guys from They Might Be Giants and Cake.

I worked at the Waldenbooks at the Westin Crown Center in KC while "Ride With The Devil" was being filmed. The whole cast stayed there. I met Jewel (evil! snotty! beyoootch!) and Jonathon Brandis (sweet guy - I'm so sorry that he's dead).

***eta***
Ooooooh, I forgot....my mother-in-law waited on The Black Crowes once. She said they were very nice, but verrrrrrrrrry dirty. she still comments on how a sucessful band can't put together enough cash for a bar of soap and some shampoo.

By good.disaster On 03/28/04

actually, not theif river falls. they were originally from there, however she moved to eau claire with her husband.

By jtsang On 03/29/04

ok here are some really obscure ones, i.e. people I've met who've met who've met...
A person in my old company (whom I've met)...his parents sold their house to Bono

A coworker of mine is the Aunt of a not yet famous singing family who has the name 'blended' as they are a blended family, I saw them on Oprah and on an ABC family show where they tried to win their own sitcom (they didn't but they were such a cute family). She was talking about them one day and I was thinking "This sounds like that family from Oprah" anyway I was reminded of this b/c apparently steven tyler's wife is a fan of theirs (saw them on Oprah) and they've spoken to steven tyler.

My friend from an old job swears that matt damon looked her over while she was walking down the street in boston.

a college friend went to the same high school as kobe bryant and apparently he brought brandy to the high school dance

a girl I knew in HS broke the story about president bush's drug use.

this isn't famous but funny, an old college dorm mate has 'justin timberlake body double' as his professon, HA

oh and a friend of mine meets lots of famous people through his job working at MTV online, he said he almost met the voice of lisa simpson the other day but then decided that he'd look stupid gushing about her work so he didn't stay to talk to her...i can't believe it, but then again i would probably be to embarassed/nervous to say anything.

eta, my old hs math teacher used to work for dr. martin luther king junior, but i'm not sure if he met him or just worked for the cause
jt

By littlepear On 03/29/04

This is indeed a lot of fun! My husband's family goes to the same church as members from the Barenaked Ladies. Also we have a friend that went to acting school with Joseph Fiennes and playes pool with him all the time (I'm dieing to hook up with them when that happens!!!)

By suspectdevice On 03/29/04

Friends of mine have slept with, fooled around with, or have been propositioned by members of famous and semi-famous punk (and "punk") bands.

A friend knows the members of the original This Hour Has 22 Minutes cast (except for Cathy Jones. And Rick Mercer is so short!). A friend of *hers* was personal assistant to an apparently psycho Mary Walsh for a few years.

Also, my boyfriend was friends-of-friends with Len (before Steal My Sunshine); his old car is on the cover of their first album.

By SeraAngel On 03/29/04

when I worked at Kinko's...I faxed something for Andrea martin and I helped the drummer of Platinum Blonde with his resume on the computer.

my friend swears that she made out with Tricky in his tour bus after his concert.

met Anthony Kiedis and Chad Smith at a breakfast restaurant 2 days after seeing them in concert!

a friend of mine opened for Treble Charger

Before the Bare Naked Ladies got really big, I saw them at a Taco Bell and got their autograph.

By sunkissedmiss On 03/31/04

hehe, the Brad Pitt stuff reminded me ... Brad Pitt's butt double graduated from my college, according to college recruitment literature (y'know, the "famous people who went here, you should too!" list).

By Katrin On 03/31/04

Now I have to know - what college is it that lists "Brad Pitt's butt double" as its alumni claim to fame? :D

By Alicewonderland On 03/31/04

Hmm..
I'm related to kristana lokum who was in terminator 3 and thereby have had a cousin who has met Ah-nald, and the rest of the cast.

I've met quite a few models, many of them the "9 month runway stint 6 foot from eastern europe" who were big awhile ago but have since faded out of the spotlight.

My boyfreinds band opened up for the juliana theory. He talks regularily with some pretty big recording people, too. He's met all the members of green day. He's met all the members of shellac, and john macintire who was in tortise. He's met all the members of the promise ring. He's done merch for the shipping news.

I've met a pile of muscicians from writing for music zines.

By mishymisu On 03/31/04

My dad is the doctor of someone very famous, someone who if I told you who it was, you would all ask me what venereal diseases she has, someone who I would LOVE to tell you about, but I can't because I am not supposed to know about it and definitely not supposed to be posting crap on the internet about it. But, man I'm dying over here cuz it's juicy. It won't hurt my feelings if you try to guess a little bit though.

By Chelsea Belle On 04/01/04

I have something to post! One of my mom's friends is a musician and he just played an impromptu set with Paul McCartney at a bar near Lake Tahoe! Nice!

By AutumnSky On 04/01/04

A couple of our friends are grips (electricians I think?) in the "industry", so we have a few connections......one of our friends worked on "Felicity" and 2 seasons of "24" (he's gone drinking with Keifer), and his first *big* project was "Phone Booth" (mmmm....Colin Farrell!)

My favorite was the time he called his wife from a set on her b-day and put Mel Gibson on the phone. She thought it was a prank. ;-)

Almost forgot....Soleil Moon Frye tried to pick up on DH the year before we met, and we've hung out with Robert Hayes.

By myredumbrella On 04/01/04

wow! cool thread!

well, my boyfriend's aunt used to date tom petty and the guy who wrote the theme song to "welcome back kotter" (he used to wear tie-dyed underwear!)

my aunt had a small part in the movies canon ball run.

a friend of mine was a trombone player in mighty might bosstones.

working at a coffee shop in new haven, ct (home of yale) i served coffee to 'darlene' from roseanne, the girl from the tv show life goes on, and clair daines, and marth plimpton (she was in a play that was going on at yale). i briefly saw julia roberts during the filming of mona lisa smiles (some parts were filmed at yale)and weird al ( he was performing at toad's place)

and just to throw it it..i bumped into elton john at a prada store in nyc!

By AprilBrokenA On 04/01/04

**I** have danced with Chubby Checker. Not just any dance, but the twist - with Chubby Checker.

Also - My mom works for the law firm that handled Reba McIntyre's divorce, and does some lawyerly type stuff for Garth Brooks.

Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood have driven through the BK my DH managed.

The company I now work for painted Garth Brook's ranch.

I've met the Hansons.

I've seen Steven Tyler at the flea market on the fair grounds.

I graduated high school with The Donnas, James Franco (from Spiderman) was a year above me in high school. I graduated college with Randy from Real World San Diego. The person who is inside Big Bird also went to my college. Steve Martin filmed a movie at the college too.

By anaisflower On 04/01/04

I went to high school with Mary Carey ... the porn star who ran for governor of California. Actually, she graduated right before I started 9th grade there. Also, Kelsey Grammar graduated from that same school long long ago and some of the teachers still remember him.

I now go to school with Julia Stiles, Ryder Strong (I saw him just last Tuesday), and the girl from MTV's Rich Girls. Also, my roomate saw Ewan McGregor when he filmed a movie on our campus. Spiderman and the olsen twins movie had parts filmed here too.

This is why we go to school... :)
