living in NYC, I've had my share of celebrity sitings, but not many real encounters to speak of...
I danced with Aida Tutorro (Janice on The Sopranos) at a Christmas party this year.
I met Steve Buscemi at the same woman's Christmas party the year before.

My best six degrees connection is that when my friend's friend studied abroad in London, he used to hang out frequently with Eddie Izzard

I worked at the Snow Lion which was owned by the Dali Lama's newphew. I never met the Dali Lama but I met many of his extended family which I thought was cool.

i was friends with an English singer of a one-hit-album band in the mid 90s, but we've lost touch.

i knew a nephew of a Rolling Stone. (he called me from Joey Ramone's house once!)

my father's best friend in high school, and still good friend, hosted a very well known entertainment show and a game show. now he works in production. in fact his company produces some crafty-like shows i've seen mentioned on the boards.

a family friend's daughter was in Mona Lisa Smile, and apparently gets roles on drama/crime shows. never met her though.

my dad 'trained' Chris Isaak for a couple days for a movie he was doing.

and i met Hulk Hogan when i was 9!

My second cousin has been in a few movies, including Jumping Jack Flash and Dead Poets Society.

A friend of my mom's knew a few people and I have gotten autographs. I was the coolest girl in 5th grade when I had Kirk Camerons autograph and showed it to my friends in class.

I have met Bob Mould, an ex- US Senator, Fugazi, Theivery Corporation, and stood next to Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters (at a show) all within the last few months.

My BF is a mini-celeb who has been on CNN twice and is currently working on a kids show with his best friend. Check out http://www.pancakemountain.com

My boy owns a record store in Des Moines, IA (actual vinyl records, but also some CDs). Both Henry Rollins and Crystal Gayle have stopped in at the shop (he was performing some spoken-word stuff at Iowa State Univ. in Ames, and she had performed at a casino near here), and bought stuff. I was surprised - he bought a copy of the Stooges "Funhouse" (on CD). Both the boy & I kind of thought he might already have that album...

We didn't say anything to either of them, not wanting to be "those" people, ya know? And he's *really* shorter than I expected him to be. :-)

I go to the same law school that John Kerry went to, so there are quite a few people around that either taught him or worked with him at some point.

My uncle's sister dated Bill Pullman before he was (semi)famous.

a good friend of the roommate of one of my buddies here at uni is the girlfriend of Rivers (Weezer). She's a college student, so about a decade younger than him, and they've got an open relationship.

A girl I went to college with supports herself while in grad school in LA by being a dominatrix. She makes most of her money spanking Kevin Bacon.

I had a loud argument once while working in a record store with Natalie Merchant's mother...she was displeased that her daughter's works were not on prominent display.

My sister's best friend's cousin's brother was in that Kevin Bacon movie, Stir of Echoes. He was the kid who shoots himself. 5 degrees.

My HS typing teacher's cousin is married to Sarah McLachlan and is her drummer.

My roommates' ex-girlfriend ran into Jack Nicholson at a Starbucks in California a few years ago, but she didn't know who he was. They chatted in the long line, then as he left he winked at her. Some guy came up to her after he left and was all "that was Jack Nicholson!!" and she said, "who?"

My dad's business partner is the uncle of Maria Bello, you know, in Secret Window.
You see, she grew up around here, in Norristown, PA.

I live in NYC and used to wait tables, so I have many celebrity-eats-out stories, but none of them are that interesting.

Several years ago, I was hanging out at a bar and Ron Palillo (Welcome Back Kotter's Horshack) bought me a drink and chatted me up while we waited for my friend to get back from the bathroom so RP could hit on him. He was very sweet and not unattractive. Scott, however, was not interested.

And to follow it up, two months ago, I ran into Ron again, this time, literally, as he drunkenly plowed into me at my corner deli. I guess he lives in my neighborhood.

my dad's friend roger knows rob lowe's mom. through this network, i was handed down a wool sweater that used to belong to him when he was 12, but i don't know what ever happened to it.

My cousin is John Cameron Mitchell, of Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

also one of my best friends from high school is Arneold Schwartzaneger's niece, or something like that.

David Boreanaz is my best friend's cousin. They can't stand each other.

And he's probably only famous enough to be familiar to people into electronic music or the club and/or rave scenes, but Scott Henry is a casual acquaintance of mine. Met him originally through the roommate of an old HS friend.

ETA: Years ago, my friend Sarah's father was a member of the touring band for Hall & Oates.

My uncle is friends with Aruther Miller and was married at his house. He also is friends with Daniel Day-Louis and Rebecca through that connection.

My dad had a conversation with the Regans in a hotel back when Ronald was in office.

My aunt is friends with Janet Leigh, the old actress.

One of our friends was in Superchunk before they made it big.

I think that's about it. I've met some celebrities, but I don't know any, per se.

Oh, yeah, my friend's grandpa was a bigwig in D.C. back in the day and was friends with Richard Nixon. He came to her parents' wedding. Caitlin has a pic of the three of them on her mantel. I thought it was a fake at first!!

I got to stand behind Grant Hart once at a Stan Ridgeway show...we're not related,though! (I didn't know who he was either,at the time). My bosses are friends with Beej Chaney and family(he's from the 80's band the Suburbs,etc)so I got to meet him last year....Not real exciting stuff- I always seem to be somewhere else when the stars come out,for the most part! : )
