Is anyone else here as enthralled w/zombie movies as me?

The trailer scared me, w/the creepy little girl zombie. And those hands at the end.

I LOVE THE ZOMBIES SCARING ME!

We're going tonight.

i saw 28 days later, and it was enough for me (i loved that movie!). seems like the same kind of thing.

I'm very into older horror movies, and I'm going to go see this without a doubt. I wonder if they're going to try to throw in some subtext or if it's just going to be guns, zombies and gore.

The zombies in the first one were pretty low rent, so I'm excited to see these ones.

To answer the original question: yeah, I'm way into zombies.

I can't wait to see it, for a few reasons...

- I LOVE Sarah Polley! She's coming to one of my classes later this month to speak and I'm SO EXCITED..

- I love zombies and "the last people on earth..." themes

- I was supposed to be BE in this movie, as one of the zombie extras, but had to turn it down because it would take up my entire summer and I needed to work at my stupid warrehouse/factory job all summer to ensure I would get in again next summer. I was kicking myself when I found out Sarah Polley was in it.

I can't go see it tonight or at all this weekend because I'm home from university and one of the actors in the movie (Kevin Zegers) is from my town so everyone will be going to our ONE movie theatre to see him... oh well.

oh man, i freakin' love zombie movies. sooo much. i'm dying to see this one, but i can't decide whether to go to this one, taking lives, or secret window next. it's such a toss up. i love zombies, i love johnny, and i worship angelina. guess maybe taking lives will win... :)

anyone else all antsy to see resident evil 2? i have been jonesing for that flick since the minute the first one started rolling credits at the theater. it's kinda sad how often i wonder when it's coming out. i suppose i could go look it up... (ok, looked it up, sept. 24th. gawd, that's forEVER away! /whine)

oh, and did anyone else see house of the dead? i know most people hated it, but i get the feeling that most people had no idea it was based on a game and that it was *supposed* to be extraordinarily campy, ridiculous, cheesy & gory. i thought it was brilliant, i was cracking up the whole time.

The inner horror movie geek has been jumping with delight ever since I read an interview with Sarah Polley about the movie (I think it was in I-d maybe?).

From what she says in the interview, they ARE keeping in all the original subtext, but I don't know if she had seen the final cut before the interview or if she was basing her statements on the script. Either way, I'm totally excited, although I probably have to wait till Saturday to see it.

I love zombie movies, but except for 28 Days Later I haven't seen any lately that capture what it is I love about them. Romero was great at inserting social and political commentary into his films (racism, consumerism, etc.) and now they are just slick action movies.

By hazel1 On 03/19/04

the trailer scares me too! but i still wanna see it! what really scares me is how *real* they make it seem...like it could actually happen.

btw, i loved resident evil as well...they should make a sequel.

***ETA - Whoa! i should read all the way through...resident evil does have a sequel!?
:)

all right, we went to see it tonight. i couldn't decide between the three i mentioned above, so i told my guy to pick. i should have expected he'd pick the zombie movie. (ahh, i find reasons to love him more each day.)

it was freakin' awesome. though i was severely annoyed at the people talking throughout the whole thing, especially the teenage girls a couple rows back that laughed at the most inappropriate things. and the girl who *talked* to the characters throughout it. "oh no! no!no!no! don't go in there! no! oh no girl!" i'm not the "shushing" type, but i finally gave her a nice, pointed "SHHHHHHHHH!" ugh. i hate watching movies with stupid people who have to comment on everything or make it known when they actually get a joke.

anyhoo, sorry for the minor rantyness, that kind of shit peeves me to no end. so yeah, the movie rocked, go see it. :)

It was really nicely done. Respectful of the original, moved quick, wonderful makeup and action.

Characters were quickly sketched but the sketches were interested. Fun, gore, funny, well done.

good production value for a horror movie.

GREAT MONTAGE of chaos W/Johnny Cash's 'The Man Comes Around' during the opening credits.

But if you don't like gore and things jumping out at you, stay away.

As zombies are my #1 Irrational Fear, if they're in a movie, I'm in the theatre. I don't know what it is.

This one I'm very excited for. I'm going to see it tomorrow. In the middle of the day. And pray that there isn't another blackout in the next couple weeks as was the case with my viewing of '28 days later' last summer. I don't think my bladder has fully recovered. (TMI? Too damn late.)

I know that these are quick-fast-in-a-hurry running zombies but am I the only one as freaked out by the slow-moving-'hey is that Mr. Peterson? Hi Mr. Peterson! Oh lord god! Didn't he die last year!' zombies?

Shivers.

SACRELIGIOUS!!!!

:P well almost I love dawn of the dead circa 1978 I even have the night, dawn and day trilogy boxset, although dawn is the best :)

From what I've heard the remake isn't so bad, although the zombies are fast! This was nice in 28 days later for a little change but i still like my old fashioned slow zombies best. Anyway its out hear later in the week and if I'll definatly be going to see it, because I have to. Its the law.

From what i can gather this is just an action movie, whereas the orginal was funny (never took itself to seriously),had weird capitalist/consumerist social commentery going on, and the charm that only a lowtech 70s movie can have oh and on of the lead later went on to play keanen and kels dad in that crappy show!

As you can tell i'm a bit of a zombie nut, I also love anything dystopian (well good dystopian like 1984 or Oryx and Crake not stupid things like mad max) Oh and mekhi phifer (pratt in er!) is in and he is a fox :)

However i'm a little sad that my little movie that no one outside my family has seen (except one friend that I made watch it) will be released to the masses in this diluted form. I want a tshirt that says "When theres no more room in hell the dead will walk the earth" but everyone will think its from the remake :~(

End of Zombie rant

By twofishes13 On 03/20/04

I definately agree that "zoombies" (har, har, har) are not nearly as scary as the slow moving zombies. Though I thought that the zombies in the remake were much scarier than the zombies in the original "Dawn of the Dead". Most of the original zombies looked like they were just painted blue, which made me think of the Smurfs.
