Hello Hello..I remember there was a thread about this a while ago, but It didn't come up on my search..so hence the revival.

So yes, we finally bought Dance Dance Revolution for home. I was sooo excited! I still am but I am now facing the cold hard truth that I really don't have as much rythym as I thought I did..and Damn, it is hard!! So I think there were other players out there..just wanted to share.
-Trix, who is still determined to be a DDR stylin goddess.

My bf has given me custody of his xbox, so I bought ddr on ebay. It just arrived yesterday, and I'm hoping I get time to play with it this weekend. Mine came with 2 pads, so hopefully I can con my friend into joining me.

I love DDR! I have it on the Playstation 2... I've been playing it several times a week for about three months, and it's been getting a lot easier. I just started being able to dance the 200 bpm songs, though only for a few minutes before my feet get tangled. Or too hot from the friction. ;)

I don't like the limited selection of songs, though. I need to rent or buy another edition to keep my skills sharp.

i love DDR too! but it took me a really long time of practicing all by myself to be able to even do those 3 feet songs. now i'm pretty good, but you do have to have a lot of patience at the beginning and just keep at it.

oh, and here's a tip: when you're starting out, you should make sure you teach yourself to use both of your feet so that it's easier when you get to the more involved steps down the road. when i first started, i was definitely right foot dominated and would use it for everything but the left arrow, but you really need to use both feet equally. i found it helpful to train myself to used my right foot for the up and right arrows and my left foot for the down and left arrows.

I was doing the one-foot thing at first too, but it was pretty easy to train myself off of it.

Another helpful trick is to try dancing on your tiptoes. Then you don't rest your weight on one foot, and you get a lot quicker on your feet.

I only get to play DDR at arcades because I refuse to support the PS2 or X-Box (Nintendo, baby!). But it's great fun making a fool out of myself in front of so many people!

DDR is so great.. i don't have one of my own but I always make an effort to attend a DDR party!
I really need some one on one time with a machine though, because I am only with it in groups and I never have enough time to get good.
Still, no xbox... So i will just stay jealous.

my first DDR experience was traumatizing..not only did i have no clue what i was doing, but somehow the DDR "expert" that was helping me picked out a really hard song that caused me to fail within 5 seconds of it starting. i didn't know what had hit me!

nowadays, things are better.. i'm not that great, but i have fun. i got it for christmas, and i've been obsessed with it ever since.

another DDR tip: try your best not to be middle-centered. it may be tempting to stay inside of that little circle..but it is so much easier (and less exhausting) to not go straight to the middle after you've hit a key. trying the lessons is helpful, too.

I've been playing for almost 3 years now. :D

My sister is actually one of the best female DDR players in the South. Kind of funny, but people actually stop and take pictures when we play together, since we look very similar and I can't quite match her, but we can play the same song and same level (she gets higher scores).

DDR is just so fun. Am I the only one who buys the soundtracks and listens to them not while playing DDR? I really enjoy the music!

I got a PS2 for xmas, and a DDR softpad dance mat thing...and that started my BF and I becoming somewhat addicted. He got DDR Max, and Max 2.
He also built two hard arcade style mats.

It cost 200 bucks, but they're plexiglass buttons with the graphic sandwiched under the plexi, and they're the same dimensions as the arcade. They don't have the bars on the back though, but that's okay. We've never played at the arcade yet. He's better than I am, but I'm not too bad either. I can only play some songs on Standard, and I'm not even up to Hard yet, but he can do some of the songs on Hard and most on Standard.
We mainly like it because it's fun, and it's exercise! Yay!

Hey!
Hubby and I bought DDRMax2 a few weeks ago. We're actually getting pretty good. We SUCKED SUCKED SUCKED at first and we're still quite white, but now we can do most songs at light mode. HAVE FUN! It's great, no?

Karaoke Revolution is lots of fun too.

For some reason I thought this thread would be about East Germany. :-)

I have DDR Ultramix for X-Box ...it's fun! And a bunch of people aren't crowded around it at all times, like the one in the mall. ;)
