I am in love with those gel-like cutout decorations (like the ones at www.gelgems.com) that stick on glass and metal, and would love to have some to decorate my dorm room. But I'ma poor college student, and they're pretty pricey. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make these? Thanks!

I don't know if its what you're looking for, but they make paint stuff that you use to make them.

we have those in the research lab that I'm working in right now (I'm a college freshman), and one of my friends replicated them by taking the gel candle stuff you can buy, pouring it into a shallow pan, and then using small cookie cutters when it cooled. it worked pretty well, and she had a ton left over to give as presents. I think she melted the leftovers and repeated it in a smaller pan, then took those leftovers and made a really tiny candle.

I picked up a tub of Martha Stewart Boo! Candle making gel for like $1 the last time I went to American Science and Surplus. I wonder if it's the same stuff ... I've no idea what to do with it, as I don't make candles and I mainly bought it cuz it was so cheap and I thought ... well maybe I'll make some candles ...

Could you use those window decoration "paints"? Don't know what they're called but they're everywhere here...you paint something on plastic, let it dry and then you can peel it off and put it on windows, tiles etc. Should work on metal too. While it isn't exactly _gel_, it might look similar.
