so i'm proably way out of date and this song has probably been pollutiong the airwaves for months and months....

but i was listening to the radio today and i heard a cover by *limp goddamned bizzzzkit* of the Who's "behind blue eyes".

i almost ran my car off a clif. god!! it just really irks me.

anyone else feel my pain?

eta--- this is the kitty i look at when i'm feeling blue http://www.napoleoncats.com/ygp5987.htm

By nocturne On 01/19/04

YES. I am appalled by it. APPALLED.

By Twilight On 01/20/04

It still irks me everytime I hear the Lemonheads remake of Mrs. Robinson. You just can't redo a Simon and Garfunkel song! It's, it's...well, it's just wrong.

Haven't heard the song you mention but I feel your pain.

By jenabug On 01/20/04

see how they run!!!!! first, let me say the cat site is too much. like mouth agape, squealing inhale too much. thank you for that.

second...listen to this..i teach dance at a high school and one of my afterschool dancers had me listen to that GAWDAWFUL song as her first choice to set a dance to. she didn't like hearing that limp biskit weren't the writers of that haunting melody.

By geekychic On 01/20/04

it really is horrible.

anyway i can't hear the song without thinking of bill hicks..."no one knows what it's like to be a dustbin...in sounthbrie...with holligans", but that's allowed because bill hicks was a genius.

fred durst is not a genius ...he is a giant peice of crap who steals songs for a livng and makes 13 year old kids think it's new and great!!! gah!

and yeah those cats rcok my world.

By dumplinggrrl On 01/20/04

Yep, heard it. For the first time I wanted to cause bodily harm to someone I'd never met face to face.No one butchers The Who's songs. No one!! Grrrrr. It was AWFUL.

By eixmi On 01/20/04

I'm not a *huge* Who fan (although I do like them), but I object to everything Limp Bizkit do on principle, so I'm right there with you.

By mazelpants On 01/20/04

I can't believe how cute those cats are, that was great! Limp Bizkit sucks.

By lozenge On 01/20/04

i dislike limp biscuit immensely. so much so i turn off the radio everytime they come on. so i havent heard it. but grrr im angry. the who are cool.

By rhinokey On 01/20/04

I haven't heard it yet, but I'm sure I'll hate it immediately. Nobody messes with The Who and gets away with it.

By looloo On 01/20/04

I am ashamed to admit this, but Limp Bizkit is from my town...but I do know that I would like to wait outside of their homes with a bat and...no, can't say anything...would leave evidence....but the problem I have is they did not do the whole song, they actually and literally butchered it...

And as for covers of simon and garfunkel...I love the lemonheads cover and I am a HUGE s & g fan! plus I love hazy shade of winter by the bangles and I am a rock by Red House Painters...

By Rzngrl On 01/20/04

For those of you haven't heard it, you can got o Launch.com and hear and see the video. Apparently it was for that Halle Berry movie Gothika, because she's in the video.

By WildSnowflake On 01/20/04

Ya, it's from Gothika... and apparently he's been schtooping Halle Berry...

The one that irks me the most is SmashMouth's I'm a Believer... The Monkees' version was so nice and innocent (yay Neil Diamond) and everytime I hear SM's version I think of Steve Harwell on the Howard Stern show talking about all the porn stars he dated (don't get me started on Carrot Top)

By looloo On 01/20/04

Wildsnowflake just lost me...what does Smashmouth have to do with Howard Stern and Carrot Top? I don't have cable, so I just associate them with Shrek. (which makes me happy that they covered it, because when I am listening to the oldies station and the song comes on, my girls are singing and bopping along)

By wakingoogah On 01/22/04

carrot top has a name(note to self: search for carrot top porn....)

I haven't heard the limp bizkit song, but my brother actually thougth the fugees came up with the "killing me softly" song, and refused to believe anyone could have sung it earlier.

By eejstar On 01/22/04

Well, I don't listen to Limp Biscuit, so I have no heard it... mostly I stream online radio (Folk stations and such) but I can tell you what pissed me off to no end...

Dixie Chics Landslide...gah! they do not understand that it is not a poppy song! besides... have you seen the video? someone should smack them.

I don't hate all covers, though... tori amos covers many songs and i think she typically does not lose the soul of the song, and since she rewrites all of the music into piano, it rocks... she does landslide also, and i love it! she also does Angie (rolling stones) and cure songs and on and on...

I wasn't even upset when Joan Baez butchered zeppelin's (spelling?) "Babe I'm Gonna Leave" you... because... well, it is Joan Baez...

but these poppy people who wan't to butcher classic songs suck! uhg. i hate the dixie chics.

By WildSnowflake On 01/22/04

Both member of SmashMouth and Carrot Top have talked on the HS Show about all the pornstars and BunnyRanch gals they have slept with ( in greater detail than I needed), also how they are umm treated by their groupies.

By valagator On 01/22/04

I cannot stand the fact that No Doubt covered "it's my life".

I also cannot stand anything they put out..but this really pissed me off.

By meadow On 01/22/04

eww.
theres many reason i avoid the "modern rock!!" station, this is one.

By stargirley On 01/22/04

It's almost as bad as Aerosmith allowing Eminem to sing Dream on. and actually singing it with him. WTF?

By naturallysteph On 01/22/04

(thinking of Carrot Top naked)

Ewwwwwww! Of course, it's really no wonder that Carrot Top frequents the Bunny Ranch. Who would sleep with him if they weren't getting paid?

*shudder* Worst thing I've pictured in my head in a long time. Trying. To. Erase. Image. *shudder*

By invisilurker On 01/22/04

I love Toris cover of Landslide...and Angie.
I actually love the originals more because of her covers, which is probably somewhat unusual.

I always think of what she said once before she played Landslide. She said that she plays that song when she's feeling sad..and she practically started crying when she played it. I only have an mp3, but you can hear it. It's gorgeous. Plus the Angie is broken down so beautifully.

I think the Boys of Summer cover by the Ataris or whoever, is good. It's still jumpy and poppy and cool.

By wakingoogah On 01/24/04

Apparently his frivolous activities were not made known to me.

I have lost all respect for that side-show freak!

By princessclare On 02/07/04

That kitty is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE!!!
clare

By tweedle On 02/07/04

i have no objections to covers at all so long as they're done well and in an original way.

however, lame bizkit (or whoever they are) should be banned from all media. not only do i hate their music and their attitude, but anyone who says "i am a businessman first and foremost and secondly a rock star" (fred durst - ) can get knotted. and hearing him whine; "no-one knows what it's like" on that who song, makes me cringe.

twattery.
