Topic Tux for prom Go to previous topic Go to next topic Go to higher level

Ok, I know this might sound super-early and be in the wrong place, but..time wise, it's cuz i'm in Nepal and it's easier to get something for prom made now. so.
I want to wear a tux to prom...but i want it to be a *special* *snazzy* tux, so i don't just look like a girl gone ~completely~ off her rocker in a really bad way..just very different!
So, does anyone have any ideas/patterns/thing that i could do to figure out what this tux should look like?
Thanks!

Maybe do a duct tape tux? There's different colors of duct tape, so you could make stripes or whatever on it. This sounds kind of ethnocentric, but do you have duct tape in Nepal? Here's a link with a pic of a guy in one, the 4th pic down.
Good luck!

While white/baby blue tuxes on men are just wrong and awful, they work great on adolescent boys and ... GIRLS! Very light grey is a good tux colour as well.
If you replace the white shirt with a halter/glittery top/lacy whatever (or...nothing but a necktie!), and wear stilettoes, the tux instantly turns into a glamorously girly outfit.
Add dangly earrings, matching bag, firy red lipstick, slick hair back e presto!
You won't be the queen, but definitely the president of the night, which is cooler by far.

ps I understood you are getting a tux made. It may be easier to ask the tailor to adapt a women's power suit to get that tux look, rather than trying to get a man's tux to fit you. Unless you are the slender/waify type, in which case a man's suit might fit just fine. Also try looking for seventies-style patterns. Bellbottom tux = infinite coolness.
