ok so I made some record bracelets last week, but some of the edges went all wobbley (sp?). Has this happened to anyone else? I was thinking maybe it was the oven temp. I had it at about 250 I think.

I've never made braclets, but I know that's too high for record bowls...

I hope someone else has some really good advice for you.

Too high for record bowls? I usually set mine at 400 if I am in a hurry, or if I want to piggyback after making dinner.
Maybe you could melt it the first time flat and quickly slice off what you need for the cuff and then melt that and shape it then?

sounds like you had them too hot/too long and the edges melted. they don't take any time at all. also, how were you cutting the edges? i use an exacto (after many incidents with scissors).

try again, but really only put the record in for a couple of minutes (and try it at 200-225).

good luck!

I've always seen record bowl instructions recommending like 100-150 degrees...has always worked for me!

Pad Parties: the Guide to Ultra-Entertaining recommends 400. That's the only reason I started doing it that high. I usually sandwich the bowl with another terra cotta pot after it comes out to shpae it better.

I thought I read once that the melting records can give off toxic fumes. Is this true? I would like to know before I burn anymore.
