Topic Tuck Stitch? Go to previous topic Go to next topic Go to higher level

A few weeks ago someone showed me a stitch in the machine knitting world called the tuck stitch. It looked really easy. However, when I went off on my own, I couldn't remember exactly how to do it and my original source seems to think I'm insane or something. Anyone know this stitch? It has another name, but I can't remember that either.

dunno dude. Can you describe what the stitch accomplished? Did it actually tuck something?

I have some strange stitches on my machine that have directions on how to use them (for invisible hemming, whatever.) Was is that kinda thing?

nope. It's a knitting machine stitch that looks maybe lace like. Nothing to do with hemming whatsoever.

Crazed, never heard of it.

Good luck

Hmm, well, a search on google turned up this pattern for a man's sweater>http://www.clearwaterknits.com/freepats/tuckcrew.html

and this one for dishcloths>http://www.smokingneedles.com/tuck_stitch_dishcloth.htm

An about.com search also turned up a bunch of patterns. So you're definitely not insane :) Maybe having look at a couple of the instructions will jog your memory? Good luck in any case!

When did insanity enter the picture? I am simply looking for the by hand equivalent for the machine stitch. Looking at machine instructions will not jog my memory, believe me!

Maybe I'll have some time to do research at the craft library today...

Right about there. I.e. I was trying to be funny. Sorry. I didn't get that you wanted the hand equivalent. Must have misread something. (???)

Best of luck at the library.

Well actually that has more to do with her suddenly not talking to me rather than the existence of the mystery stitch.
