My name is Jackie, and I am a Target-aholic.

*sigh*

Especially the one in downtown Minneapolis that has 2 floors, and the neat-o Ikea style escalators that you can put your cart on. And the darling clearence areas. The huge assortment of toys, now that I have nieces to shop for. The super-cute shoes at reasonable prices. The fact that the Target corporation does not donate money to the religious right and takes care of its employees (unlike other mega shops). Their fun print and media advertising. What's not to like?

Who drank the last cup of coffee at this meeting?

Hiii, Jackierocket! ;)

Now I have an overwhelming urge to say the Serenity Prayer...hee.

Waaait. You can take your carts up and down the escalators at Ikea? Damn. You know, my trip there last week would have been a lot easier were I not so oblivious.

They just built a new Target in Portland with the funky escalators. I love it.

target is the best. last year we went on target outings with school. it was awesome. i used to go when i got bored (cause at home, its only like 5 minutes away). but i havent been since i first moved into my apt (2 months ago) cause i dont think there is one too close to here. :(

but yeah. target is amazing. they need a craft section though. cause i hate wal mart.

I'm another sick sick Target addict. :O
I have 3 targets very close to me, (less than a ten minute drive)
I change it up by going to different ones. I do almost all of my non-crafty x-mas shopping there. They have the lowest prices on toilet stuff. I can't even stand it! I love it too much. I go there weekly if not more. Me and hubby are both cray-zay for Tar-zhay!

I could use a 12 (okay, 45) step program to ween myself off of weekly $150 trips.

Can I have a cigarette now that the coffee maker has now been refilled?

I, too, work at Target part time. I noticed that they have these really cute make-over party tins that they sell at Sephora by Jaqua Girls. At Target they are only 9.99 though, how rad! They are getting great gift sets for Kissmiss as well, like cocktail shakers with shot glasses and other random swank things.

Both of the K-marts closed down in Eugene, which makes me sad because I loved Martha's Christmas stuff.

Am I missing something? The first time I went to Target was in California, and I was only mildly impressed. But then, I was with family and didn't get to look on my own.

Now a Target just opened up in my city, and I went, and I was only mildly impressed. But then, I didn't really get a chance to look around. I almost bought some really cute socks though (I understand the sock thing, honestly).

But the way people had gone on about it, I thought I'd be stepping into God's personal retail store.

The sunglasses and watches and socks were really nice. I'm going to take a gander at their cups next time I go. I should go tonight. And try to connect with the store. I know, I'm being a doofus.

Holy crap!

I just went on the target website, being a bit of a curious george here as we don't have them in the UK, and I found NOT ONLY cookie monster women's PJ's BUT ALSO an Oscar the grouch camisole and boy-pants set, for ridiculously bargainous prices!!! Of course, being incredibly backward, they won't ship internationally. People should just not be allowed to sell cool stuff online unless they intend to sell it to me.

CURSE YOU, Gods, for making me british! And curse you, stupid insular american retail industry. There *ARE* other countries in need of sesame street merchandise, y'know. Damn damn damn.

i had to complain today about a ridiculously obvious loss control 'shopper' at target who was following my husband and i around so blatantly each time we shopped. it was like a bad, bad sitcom. i hate to think about all the shoplifters running around while we were being tailed. *sigh*

anyway, the woman in charge of the whole (what is it, asset control?) anyway, she promised we could shop unhindered from now on. i can go back to my erratic browsing in peace.

I want a Target! Do they have them in Canada?
*?$#@!&^ America, getting all the cool stores and cheap prices. The only good cheap department store we have is Walmart, and it's American!
sounds fun though.

By soapandwater On 11/16/03

Wal-mart is American, but it sure does sell a lot of stuff made in China.

By AesSedai On 11/16/03

Wal-Mart is considered cheesier by far than Target.
Wal-Mart products are inferior. Their prices are lower. Supposedly Target's employees are treated better. I don't know if their environmental/sweatshop policies are the same as Wal-Mart. Then again, even small stores don't buy all American made products, typically. So, yes, they are a corporation.

You may have to cut and paste. Target was created by the Dayton-Hudson Corporation, based here in Minneapolis. The Dayton family is also very giving to the community and involved in many benefits and give to causes. They used to be called "Dayton's", which main location was on Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis, but after the growing success of Target, they changed the home base name to Target, which also owns Marshall-Fields, Mervyn's, and several other department stores. My biggest beef with them is the god-ugly Target Arena in Mpls. that hosts bands and Disney on Ice and other such hoo-haw. Ugly icky nasty.
