I'm making some zen gardens for people at work for Christmas and i'm trying to find some sand....

HELP!!!

PS. anyplace for little baggies I can put the sand in???

maybe pet supply places? like ones that carry lizards and stuff? or go to the place where they store sand for sanding the roads in teh winter (if you live where there is snow.) I bet they'll let you fill your baggies!

just use heavy duty freezer ziplocks, they will work fine.

I used to work in the garden department of a Fred Meyers (department store) and they carried 1 lb bags of sand for like $2.00. K-mart, Walmart etc should have them too.

ditto on the gardening stores for sand
for zipped baggies you can use regular ziplock bags or check online, craft stores/beading supply shops should carry them.

suchaclassicgirl: What are you using as the base for the kit?
That is such a cool gift...

I use sand in a lot of my textured art works. I have also used it for zen gardens and dish gardens. I buy white (washed) sand for DIRT (sand?) cheap at both Home Depot and Lowes. It comes in HUGE bags though.
