Does anyone know of any birth control methods besides IUD or condoms/spremicide/diaphram/sponge that do not cause weight gain? I have not been using any form for the last 8 years and will be needing to get some protection in the near future. I have been told that weight loss will effect my non-existant libido, and if that does not work I will be recieving the female version of Viagra from my physician.. and I want to make sure I will not become pregnant at least for another 3 years. I honestly have no clue of the different types of BC that are now availible and would like to know a little more before I talk to my gynecologist.

Hi valagator-

I think probably your gyno would be the first person to ask about bc- any info you get from other people using different methods will be fairly subjective and possibly just more confusing.

Good luck, I hope you find aomething that works for you!

I think you could probably do an online search -- it seems like every year there is a different bc that's been developed. Also, people's bodies/habits/metabolisims are different, so what may work poorly for one person, may not do so for someone else. You could even call your gyno's office, and ask the nurse there for information that they could send you about your options, so you can read before you go.
