i used this fabulous cold medicine called "ambroxol" while i was in mexico. it cleared my sinuses in an amazing way.
i'm wondering if there is an american equivalent. i'd love to have some around for the next time i get hit by a cold.
anyone know of an internet resource where i can look up a foreign drug name and find out if it is available in the US? or if there is something similar?
i've done a couple of unsuccessful google searches...
any help would be appreciated.

Do you know the contents of the medicine? Was it a decongestant? (sounds like it)
***ETA: it seems the "active ingredient" is Ambroxol hydrochloride; maybe you could go to a pharmacy and ask? I haven't been able to find any US sites that refer to ambroxol (which seems to be the generic name) so it's possible that it isn't available. (I have however found pages about ambroxol from all over the world, including Pakistan - http://www.pakmedinet.com/generic.php?id=1041 ) There should be similar meds though...
I feel your [sinus] pain; I have sinus problems but over here all decongestant pills are prescription only, and seeing a doc is kind of a hassle... :-(
