Topic Help - Harry Potter Scarf Pattern?? Go to previous topic Go to next topic Go to higher level

I'm knitting a Gryffindor Harry Potter scarf for my brother for Christmas. Does anyone know of a good online pattern? I've seen so many and not being a HP reader or fan, I'm not sure how many stripes, color of fringe, etc. Here's one credible looking description I found. Can anyone confirm? Thanks in advance for your advice.

"Hogwarts scarves have twenty-one stripes: eleven dark stripes and ten light ones, and they begin and end in a dark stripe. Each end has eleven bunches of fringe: six dark and five light, again with dark fringe on both edges."

That's from this site: http://knit.atypically.net/scarves/hogwarts/pattern.shtml . It's the pattern I've used to do about half a dozen scarves. Don't worry about the exact number of stripes or fringe. Apparently the scarves were sort of an afterthought in the movie and nobody realized they'd get so popular. The "official" ones they eventually rushed onto the market don't look anything like the ones in the movie. Just make them double-thick (knit as a tube, preferable, because it goes really fast) and about six feet long. Trust me, your brother will love it.

(If you want to see some pictures of the ones I did, you can see them here: http://www.web-goddess.org/hpscarves.php)

Thanks!! Your scarves are awesome! I'm glad it's not totally critical how many stripes there are - I was imagining Christmas morning and being told that I got it wrong (brothers do that, but we love them anyway!) Thanks for posting your link and for the response.
