Topic Very Specific Resin Question Go to previous topic Go to next topic Go to higher level

I have a tiny jewelry case size chest of drawers that I have decupoged but I want to seal it with a thin resin layer.

My question is,I want to cover the fronts of the drawers individualy (and the tops and sides of the chest)so what can I put on the edges temporarily 'hold the resin'?

I thought maybe masking tape but thought that could potentialy melt with the resins chemicals,then I thought maybe tack on some wood but then would I be able to get it off and would it mess it up when I did?

Any suggestions?

ETA* should I just set the chest on something with smaller dimentions and pour the resin over it ?Or can I pour a small layer in the center and then spread it to the edges with a brush?

use a chopstick and just barely scoot the resin to the edges and set upright, it will hold just fine ;-)

envirotex lite is self levelling. you won't need to "hold" the resin at all if you mix it correctly and pour only a small amount. if you pour it it will only form drips and an uneven surface. one thing that blew my mind recently in working with resin is that it does NOT stick to wax paper AT ALL! oh thank god for wax paper!! makes clean up a billion times easier.

Thanks you guys!
So how about this;
Since the chest (without the drawers in it) has the top,botom and two sides and I want to coat all but the bottom-can I do one side,then the other etc,and how would I 'join' at the corners?(I am using Envirotex Lite)
