I'll be heading off the college soon, and as part of my decorating, I wanted to have Christmas lights hanging around.... But I don't know how I'm going to do it, seeing that I'm in dorm room, so no tacks or anything. Help?

at my old house, i had xmas lights draped across my entire ceiling. i used duct tape to keep it up. like everywhere it was taped had two crossing pieces just to keep it up. it worked for me.

I used sticky hooks to hang lights in my dorm room. They worked really well.

My dorm has these foam/pasteboard ceiling tiles...I use quilting pins to pin things to the ceiling tiles that way. It really depends on what kind of ceiling you end up with.

Hee. I made a DIY article about flowered christmas lights. But I hung mine up by draping them on curtain rods at the ends, and using a 3M removable clippy thing to hold up the center. I'd definately go with those new 3M type things with the stretchy sticky foam pads, because they don't even peel paint when you want them gone. Wonderful things.

I like that idea! I mean, the fairy lights.... And the hooks, I must find some of those! They would come in handy for other decorativer purposes.. Thanks!

Be careful with a dorm. Someplaces won't let you hang things off the walls. If they do 3m makes great plastic clips that are removable that you can use that are made specifically for hanging christmas lights. Just make sure you follow the directions exactly or they either won't hang or you'll have a heck of a time getting them off. They sell these 3m clips anywhere you can get the 3m removable hooks (i.e. Container Store).
