mithridatechild:

Do you mean just the silver rings? If so, I have three of those that you could have. They are 1-inch diameter.

:o)

By mithridatechild On 09/03/03

are they kind attached to a metal spine?? =D
ooh, i hope so!!!
thatd be a good size for a planner i think
i checked staples. they dont have any. =(

By Dawn On 09/03/03

No, sorry, these are not attached to anything. I've never seen any like what you are talking about. I'll be on the lookout, though.

:o)

Wow! There are lots of glitter threads that have helped me or changed me but this one is AMAZING! I've been using my planner for a few weeks now and I love it so much! I get so much more done! It doesn't look pretty yet but once I've got a working format I'll put "pretty-up my planner" on my To Do list.

Here's my setup:

A half-sized (A5) binder.
In the inside cover: some blu-tak and a sticker with my email address on (in case it gets lost - GOD FORBID!)
A mini pen with a keyring attachment that I can clip into the rings of the binder (so handy!)
To Do list
Blank weekly pages for the calendar that I just write the date onto
Money Page (when bills are due, when I'm getting paid, etc)
Work Record (I temp and freelance, so it's really useful to know where and when I worked)
Birthdays
Local bus route map
Cheap and free things to do in the city, including opening times of galleries, nearest tube stations, phone numbers
Places to eat
Shops I love or want to go to
Local map
Writing ideas
Basic info about places I work regularly (like the voicemail codes, PC passwords, etc)
Cooking ideas
Books I want to read
Websites to look at
Crafty ideas
Films I want to watch
General ideas
Doctor's surgery leaflet
Opening hours of local library, supermarkets etc
Helplines (tax office and stuff like that)
Note of my past addresses
A-Z of addresses and phone numbers
Plastic wallet (actually the bag a greetings card came in - I just hole-punched it - it's great because it's resealable) - full of gold stars to put on my calendar when I've had a productive day, postcards, stamps and envelopes
A few good articles that are worth rereading if I'm bored on the bus
Blank paper
A mini wallet with my library card etc in it

Phew!

Thanks Dawn and thanks Jozie for emailing the old thread.

p-girl, that's amazing. I am getting even more ideas.

Okay everyone, I'm looking for new ways to bind these planners of ours.

I used to be an avid fan of the 7" x 9" binder, but they don't fit in my purses well.

I got a spiral bound planner (for free) from school, and I actually like the calendars very much. I make a slipcover for it but I'm wanting to print out my own calendar sheets now that I have all of my syllabus information in MS Outlook.

I could spiral bound this puppy too, I guess. I've heard it costs about $5...but then again what could work easily, besides binders or binder rings, for taking sheets out and adding them back in?

By ceruleanshipper On 09/08/03

Sprung--I've heard good things about the Circo binding system (http://www.levenger.com), but it's kind of expensive.

By mithridatechild On 09/08/03

i ended up buying a smaller agenda. because the half size agendas were just too big for me to carry around.
so i have a small one im going ot make a jacket sleeve thing for. =)

By sprung On 09/08/03

mithridatechild, what are the dimensions of your agenda books? I'm thinking I might even find a way to print my planner calendar pages on 1/4 sheets of paper -- this is only difficult because I want to print double-sided and it all depends on how the books are bound. I can always try to dig up the really tiny agenda binders (they hold like 3" x 5" pieces of paper, not exactly) and punch holes in my pages to match.

Does anybody do any bookbinding? And can you recommend a system that could perhaps be refilled?

Oh my goodness, whatever this is, it's $849.00 -- http://www.levenger.com/PAGETEMPLATES/PRODUCT/PRODIDPG.ASP?category=1-10-10-10-10&pageid=101-152-127-1019-141&level=2-3-3-3-3&special=related&C=10&L=3

sprung,

is a 4 x 6 binder too much for you? If not there are some binders that size.

BTW, the desk punch is $59.95, the mega punch is over $800.

By sprung On 09/10/03

lilyblue -

How thick are these 4 x 6 binders, and how many rings (if they do have rings)? I'm going to try to find them on staples.com or something like that. Thanks!

[I'm still intimidated by that $800+ punch no matter what, heh.]

By lilyblue On 09/10/03

http://www.staples.com/Catalog/Browse/Sku.asp?PageType=1&Sku=ESS70006

I thought it was 4x6, but this is what I am referring to.

By sprung On 09/10/03

Thanks lilyblue, I didn't come across that in my own search. It's a good size, but then again it's all those rings that prevented me from making refills for my own ready-made planners. Thank you for finding that for me!

By mithridatechild On 09/10/03

the planner i have now is roughly 5 x 7. but i wanted something to fit roughly 4 x 7 sheets (cus i have all these cute planner pages that i compulsivly bought at those honger malls)
but the only binder i found was too small in diameter to fit a good size bunch of sheets in to!
and i needed something to fit the 6 holes that are on the pages (it could even be 2, 3 or 4! as long as they correspond with the holes already on it)
does anywhere offer those in bigger sized rings? i want a really *FAT* planner. i'd love you forever if you found something in the likes!!

By Mommymolds On 09/12/03

If anyone has there planner worked up in Word, can you email me the files. I would be forever grateful. I'm going through a hard time physically at the moment and just don't have the ability to hang at the computer like I use too. Anything would help. Thanks in advance.

mommymolds, are you using a 7 x 9 binder, because I have some half sheet pages done in Word. What pages do you want in your planner?

By Mommymolds On 09/13/03

yes, I am planning on it!!

By bloomeenee On 10/28/03

Yay! I thought this thread had been purged!
Bumpity bump!

By annabanna2 On 10/29/03

Maybe someone could write ana rticle about all of this?

By jchinique On 10/29/03

is anyone saving this one as a text file for posterity?

By Dawn On 11/09/03

Hi, everyone!

Just wanted to say that I have finally added the day planner article to my website, as promised. Here it is:

By bloomeenee On 11/09/03

I've saved it... I may actually have a copy of the old one still too!

ETA... yes I have...just found it.
BTW, how do you print from outlook calendar?

By Ziza On 11/10/03

*ba-bump*

Musn't let die!

I've been inspired. I decided I'm going to do 2 binders/planners, one general, and one for college life, since college is...not the real world, lol!

Where does one find 1/2 size binders?

By sprung On 11/16/03

I've found 1/2 size binders at Staples, and actually some heavy duty quality ones at Walmart.
