Hello all,

I seen to have put all crafting on hold lately...I have what feels like piles of unfinished projects and no motivation.

So, I was just wondering what everyone else is in the middle of right now? What projects are you working on or have recently finished-maybe you'll inspire me :)

Right now, I'm working on a necktie dress. I got all the lining out of the ties I want to use, and refolded the creases to keep thier tie-like shape. I also got it laid out as far was what ties go next to each other and in what order...which was a challenge.
Next I have to double check my count to make sure that I actually have enough ties to make a dress that will fit me.
That's how far I am now.
I also have to sew it together and all that fun stuff. =]

At the moment I am helping my friend with a deck of tarot cards, but also I am working on a bead woven bracelet that I started like 2 months ago and several small crazy quilts/fabric painting projects. Now that I have ink in my printer again after a 3 month absence I may resume my printing on fabric experiments. Also a couple of zine projects. If I get a job, then most of these projects will be put on hold. There are also several paintings I could be working on...

Right now Im crocheting a scarf. After I practice on that for a while (I just learned a few days ago) I want to make a mohair shawl.

I'm sewing purses out of twill cotton and a herringbone tweed. Not sure how they'll end up, I only have a loose idea of what I want them to look like.

By artzyfartzy On 07/05/03

I'm sewing a purse with a *broken-heart + bandaid * applique on it...

and i'm making a snake origami photo album of my daughter....for my father :D

I've also made alot of 1" buttons and working on magnets too..

I started making hemp jewelry yesterday for my son. It's surprisingly fun and quick to make very cool, summery-looking bracelets and necklaces for kids (and adults too I guess!)

I've been wanting to make accessories for my car. A few days ago I took measurements of my steering wheel and the seats. I want to make a cover for my steering wheel to keep it from getting hot while it's parked (I don't leave it on when I'm driving though), and seat covers (or maybe something simple like runners) to protect the fabric at least a little. I haven't started anything yet, though, because what I need is the perfect fabric to give my car a good theme so it looks decorated almost like a room.

I've been hooked on resin! Magnets made of bottlecaps are the best!

Also, I just recently took apart a really old computer that just wouldn't work anymore and have a whole bunch of pieces to make stuff out of. I'm in the process of turning the motherboard into a clock. I've got the clock mechanism in and just have to find numbers I like.

I'm working on my first crochet dress-it's not as tough as I'd thought it to be,but I still have to finish the armholes and most of the belled skirt part.I like how it's mostly one-piece... though I know I'll have to make a liner for it,if I really plan to wear it.My fantasy right now is to be able to wear it to "Professional Dress Day" at school. If it looks really nice,I probably could. : )

By mishakitty78 On 07/13/03

lots and lots of sewing...right now ive been working on various dance costumes (circle skirts, pants, belts, and bras), as well as making beaded fringe to decorate them...just finished a satin-lined shrug jacket made out of long black fake fur...considering what to do with the rest (but i just saw an incredible fur bikini that id never wear but im seriously considering trying, just for the heck of it)

also got yellow plaid satin to make a strappy punk bondage ball skirt out of...and i have to finish the bf's birthday gift

By monkey_face On 07/13/03

i'm making a crazy quilt, a messenger bag, a couple necklaces (i'm new to the beading world), and endless decoupaging projects.

I haven't been too terribly crafty lately. I find myself with a short attention span these days. I've been going nuts with small crafts like making magnets for my fridge (not just marble) and carving erasers, which is my newest obsession. Also, I'm folding the latest issue of my minizine (http://bellsouthpwp.net/d/r/drv1913/lg.html for anyone interested). That's about it. I hoping to turn my attention to costume making, because I am getting frustrated trying to find dance stuff that fits and looks good on my body.

:o)

I have a million things going, as usual. I will list the ones I can remember in order of "most actively working on" to "least":

-A super-bulky knitted baby cardigan sweater (baby who will receive this is still just a gleam in somebody's eye)

-A pair of purple knitted mittens to match a hat I just gave my sister--only one mitten is done

-Curtains for my kitchen, one done, two to go

-Crocheted medallions that will eventually be joined up to make a placemat for my cat!

-A red chenille knitted hat for the cancer treatment center at work

-A patchwork quilt loosely modeled on the book "Glorious Patchwork" by Kaffe Fassett

-A plaid sundress for me made out of super-cool Madras fabric

By rachiepachie On 07/14/03

i seem to have a horrendously short attention span at the moment, but i'm busy making paper beads for a a beaded curtain i envisage going across my window, and folding puffy stars that i'm going to string together and drape in my room - both out of cut up computer/movie magazines my bro was chucking out (recycling rocks) also i'm planning to make a belt out of aforementioned bro's old guitar strap (which he was also chucking out. chuh the boy has mush for brains) and a book bag out of this cool tapestry-esque fabric remnant i inherited....but i'm new to the sewing machine and putting off actually DOING anything to the bag lest i trash it and waste the pretty material. pah.

By annabanna2 On 07/14/03

I have a sweater, but I'm having some trouble finishing it... also a scarf that I started, but I think I'll leave that until the fall. Finally, my scrapbooking project, which has seen no progress at all....

hmmm...guess I should get cracking! :)

By technopaganus On 07/14/03

I'm recovering our kitchen chairs with a gorgeous green, gold, & black jaquard that I found in a closeout bin. My S.O. got the chairs from his grandparents when he first moved into the house we live in (and that was seven years ago), and they're currently covered in (cracking) yellowish-patterned vinyl that hurts that backs of your legs to sit on. I traded the thin, worn out chair pads for cushy 2-inch foam pads, and I'm stapling the material on the bottoms of the wooden chair based. I'm sewing covers that slide over the wooden backs, and will staple them up on the bottom edge of the backs of the chairs...

Also working on a drawing that's been in my head for weeks. (Too much Escher inspiration!)

mini pinatas for my friend's birthday... and then shirt reconstructions after that

By instant glamour On 07/14/03

it's a sad story. we are packing up to move soon so i don't have any projects out. i am so longing to craft that at work i've been making flower roses out of post its and creating wire sculptures from paper clips while i'm on hold!

By ookpik On 07/14/03

1. i knitted a dickie! it makes me laugh all the time-- this is the kind of knitting i swore to never do! it is for a sculptor who needs to cover up the shirt she gave a bust because it looks like a priest.

2. my real knitting is a fitted hoodie for myself, and some ruffly little panties.

3. progress continues on the beaded curtain i've been making out of seed beads for the last 5 years. sigh. it is impressive even in its half-complete state.

I have so much going on right now, and I'm horribly frstrated that I can't work on the things I want to.

~Bridesmaid dresses are on top of the list. I forgot how great cotton was until I had to work with satin and chiffon again.
~knitting a loverly scarf out of that 'light and lofty' somethingerother that red heart has out.
~crocheting an afgan for the boy.
~sewing a white patchwork halter out of offwhite burnout velvet, and cream satin and brocade. It'll be fabulous if i ever finish it.
~tooo many other sewing projects that have been neglected.

But none but the dresses will be finished too soon, as I have more commisions lined up. Oh..only until I have enough money for a serger..*le sigh*

I FINALLY finished my mom's top that I've been procrastinating so now I'm working on:

- knit wrist bands
- knit handbag in fun fur yarn
- knitted cardigan out of rowan cotton tape
- knitted tank top out of rowan linen drape(still need to cast on!)

Then I need to finish some site programming odds and ends. Agh.
