Topic bias tape hell...I need help Go to previous topic Go to next topic Go to higher level

Can anyone explain to me how to sew bias tape onto a piece of fabric. I am trying to make a banner and have single fold bias tape that I'd like to put around the edges. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how it's supposed to attach. Eeep!

Hey Peachy

Bias binding confused me too at first. Try these links:
>http://www.wrights.com/class/sewing/singlefoldbias/singlefoldbias.htm

(if they don't work just go to sewing.org and click on "learn to sew" then find "bias binding" at the bottom, or wrights.com and click on "classroom" then "sewing")

Once you figure it out it's no so bad. I have problems with the damn stuff wiggling around though, no matter how much I pin, so that the finish is never as neat as I want it to be. It would probably help if I could sew a straight line, too :)

it helps to iron the bejeezus out of your stuff too :)

Also you can always tack your fabric to the tape or even fusible web-tape it befor sewing to keep it from moving around.
