I am looking for a way to cover two ugly couches that I have. I have seen it done by just throwing a sheet over and stapling it, but would like to find some kind of pattern to sew something nice together. Does anyone have any suggestions?

you can buy commercical patterns vouge etc but really they are just instructions not like shapes to cut out etc like dress patterns are so its probably just as good to get a book on slipcovering from the library or where ever, theres heaps about, slip covers are easy, just a matter really of cutting shapes approximating your sofa and sewing them together, allright a bit more than that so get a book, but once you get going noo worries. ros.

At HGTV, there are different ways to go about doing a slipcover. One that will probably be the easiest is from Decorating Cents:

Easy-Sew Slipcovers (Episode 710)>http://www.hgtv.com/HGTV/project/0,1158,DEID_project_16113,FF.html

They have another one that's bare minimum, but you should be able to understand it:

(I don't know why only part of the URL is highlighted, but you need to put in the entire address to get there.)
