Topic Pattern for crocheted cloche hat? Go to previous topic Go to next topic Go to higher level

I really want to make a cute 20s-style cloche hat for an upcoming trip I am taking, but I haven't been able to find a good pattern. (I looked through the old threads about this, but didn't find what I was looking for.) Anyone have a crochet pattern for a cloche hat? Thanks!

i wanted to make one too, but also couldn't really find a pattern. so what i'm doing is:

a basic pull on cap with triple crochet. i'm using a super fuzzy, soft black yarn (zucca) combined with a really funky super-thin, electric blue yarn (crystal palace fizz). you can't even see the stitches, the yarn's so fuzzy. i'm almost done. when it's long enough, i'm just going to add one more row increasing to make a brim. and then i'm going to weave an electric blue ribbon through the last row right before the brim and tie it in some kind of modern bow or flower on the side.

i think it's going to work because the yarn is so thick, it really is making a helmet shape. do you know how to do a basic hat? if not, i can give you that pattern.

sure - i wrote it out already, i'll dig around for it tonight. it's a good pattern because it's one easy stitch, half double crochet, and once you get how it works, the varieties are endless.

Athos, the hat sounds like it will be super-cute. I was thinking of maybe attaching a crocheted flower to mine, but the ribbon idea is a good one....

Here's a bunch of awesome crochet 60-70's hat patterns from a sort-of defunct site Groovy Crochet. The webmaste has posted two cloche patterns (plus scarves), plus newsboys style caps that I'm currently obsessed with making!

I absolutely love 60's/70's crochet! So much crazy clothing & accessories compared to today's pathetic assortment of doilies & Barbie clothing today. Unfortunately her original site was hacked with some teen porn crap. This is an old link, maybe to an older version of the site she still has up somewhere. I hope she works on this site again someday, everything on it is so Austin Powerific!
