Topic source for blank glass paperweights? Go to previous topic Go to next topic Go to higher level

I want to make decoupaged clear glass dome paperweights for xmas gifts, but I can't find the blank paperweights for less than $15. I saw some on Martha's website for $15-$25; I was hoping for something more like $5 each. Am I crazy to think someone might sell them that cheap?

I don't think you're crazy

If I were you I'd go to dollar stores and surplus stores. In Toronto, where I am, there is an excellent surplus store called "Active Surplus". They have all kindsa crazy stuff. I'd also try Chinatown, the imports are cheap and diverse.

Best of luck,

Is there a store that makes its own stained glass? Or a glass store? They might have or be able to make a bunch of clear glass blobs for you.

Thanks everyone for the ideas! I looked up durwinrice.com and found the clear domes were the same price as on Martha; but they also had heart shaped paperweights for $13 and flattened round and oval ones for even cheaper...

I called a glassblowing studio in Renton(WA) and they quoted me $45 per paperweight but I don't know if they understood what I was asking for. I might go in person to another one in Seattle to see what kind of price they can give me for doing a whole buch of 'em. Seattle has so many glassblowing places I'm hoping I can find one who'll do it cheap. Otherwise I'll probably order from durwinrice.

Actually, now that I understand that you are looking for domes and not the flatter ones, I understand why you are not finding them for cheap.
