I actually didn't really like the cherry cake all that much. I think I screwed it up.

I've got an awesome mandarin orange cake recipe that is super good and easy. I found it online, just search under mandarin orange cake.

allrecipes.com has a section on cake recipes. If you want to go straight there it's cakerecipes.com You can search for a certain recipe or look through all of them. they've got tons.

You could make a pavlova - yummy Australian deserty thing.
You make a meringue shell (I do a marshmellow meringue for mine, crispity crunchity on the outside, soft and sweet on the inside), fill it up with fresh whipped cream, and then top with as much fresh fruit as you can load on that sucker. I usually like strawberries, kiwis, rasberries, bananas and a bit of passionfruit pulp.
Doesn't taste too rich, just yum! Despite the fact that I make them, when ever I eat some I've made, I'm just like "*Damn* that's good!" Fantastic in summer.
If you're interested I'll post the recipe.
cheers, jo

Make a tiramisu, it is really easy with no baking required. The general idea is to layer italian lady fingers that have been dipped in sweetened-espresso with layers of whipped cream that's been mixed with mascarpone cream cheese and marsala wine.

Go to epicurious or somewhere and look up a recipe for exact measurements, but avoid the recipies that have you cook eggs into the whipping cream (zabaglione?) - way too difficult and could result in a too-heavy desert.
