Anyway, the reason I'm posting is because I know how awesome you all are at making really cool stuff. I'm sorry to say that I can't think of anything to suggest to you right now, but I wanted to say that the first link you have up there did work for me.

go to local businesses...coffee shops, drug stores, etc. see if they will donate gift certificates or merchandise. it's good publicity and public relations, so a lot of places will do it.

just be sure to send thank you notes, and maybe updates and pictures of the dog.

Nope, nothing in particular. Of the two people that have signed up so far, one is sending some stationery type stuff, and the other is sending some soap that she made. Since I live in Alaska, I was thinking of knitting some mittens or a hat or something for it, but since I've started on a scarf for my penpal I've discovered that I'm not very proficient, and I think I'm going to try to figure out something I'm a little better at. So if any of you like knitting or crocheting, there's one idea. :) I like the idea about gift certificates... if I get a chance to go into town this week I'll check it out.

I'll crochet a scarf, it's the only thing I can crochet, but I've gotten pretty good at it. I can also include some barettes (sp?). I'll see what else I have, when do you need them?

Alaska, what's a 'service dog'?

Hi Cowgirly :) "Service Dog" just means a dog that performs a service for its person, usually meaning that it helps someone with a disability somehow. So guide dogs, hearing dogs, seizure response dogs, dogs that help people in wheelchairs, parkinson's dogs, all the different kinds... fall under "service dog". :) Actually, they use other kinds of animals for service animals too, it's just not as common. I think monkeys are used by some people, though that just doesn't appeal to me. :P They use miniature horses for guide work though, which I think is really cool. :)
