hey everyone, thought it was time for a new adult swim discussion, since it's been awhile and they've shown new shows.

for those of you who don't know what adult swim is, it's a block of adult cartoon programming on cartoon network. and it's friggin' hilarious. it's on 10pm-1am sunday nights. there is also an anime adult swim on saturday nights.

so what does everyone think of mission hill? i was sort of wary of it, but i've yet to be disappointed. every episode just gets better. the real world one had us rolling on the floor. and i love the gay neighbors. the gruff one is just so sweet.

they're showing a new harvey birdman on july 7th, which i can't wait for. we downloaded the other 2 and watch them all the time. i really wish they would make more new shows. sealab, aqua teens, brak, home movies - they ALL need new eps. i don't mind watching reruns, but i've seen them all a jillion times. the only home movies i haven't seen more than 3 times is "starboy and the captain of the universe", and it's one of my favorites.

they did throw us a couple of bones with a few new braks and sealabs awhile ago, but still... the brak ep with the bully that beat up zorak was quite good. "here friend, let me offer you a complimentary drawing of yourself as a carrot!"

the new sealab with the cast just hanging out on the set was funny, but probably my least favorite episode. i liked stimutacs much better. my new catchphrase - "it's like a koala bear crapped a rainbow in my brain!" so cute, yet so raunchy.

and i truly wish space ghost would do more eps with actual almost-plots. like the one with old kentucky shark and the documentary. even my favorite ep, knifin' around, had an almost-plot. bjork played his wife and kept interuppting him and the way they cut her interview was just so funny. if it hadn't been so blatantly cut all to hell, it would have seemed like they were making fun of her, but the way it was done made it right. frankly though, i'm getting sick of these episodes where space ghost does nonsensical things and the show has no flow. just acting like a dumbass for no good reason won't get you real laughs. and the interviews could stand a little changing. all he ever does is ignore the guest now, which is boring. and they get guests that don't really seem to know how to react to him. then again, he's kind of hard to react to sometimes.

other stupid gripes - i want more of these random cartoons, like the redone yogi and jetsons. now THAT'S entertainment. and other new ones like welcome to eltingville, or saddlerash and lewis lectures. well, honestly i could live without more eltingvilles or lewis lectures, but i definitely want to see more saddlerash. that stupid armless cowboy was great.

as for the aqua teens, i will never have a complaint about them. i could watch reruns everyday (and i do sometimes...) and never get bored. they're all just brilliant, in my opinion.

ok, discuss!

hey Miss MBH, you know i'd be here, right??

i actually watched only Home Movies and Baby Blues yesterday (gasp!) and b/c i'd seen both of them i switched over at 10:30 to Com Central to watch Insomniac (i've loved the force of crudeness and evil that is Dave Atell ever since he was on Dr. Katz...).

Anyway:
I like Mission Hill. It's a little weird to me that everyone has hilighter-yellow eyes, but i think the humor is there, if a bit crude at times.

i definately want new SG, Home Movies [long live H. Jon Benjamin! He cracks me up!!], Aqua Teen Hunger Force [that show is so cracked! it's great], and SEALAB ["oh crap on a crap cracker!"]. I've never been huge on Brak though i love Zorak, so i do watch the Brak SHow sometimes, but i prefer good ol' SG [though as you say, they need some revamping of the show's structure. it's getting to a point where you don't even need the guests b/c they don't interact at all, and that's dumb].

ok, separate rant thing on Home Movies: i too want to see the Starboy ep again! that's so great! And last night was the "He is Franz Kaf-ka! FRANZ KAF-KA!!" rock opera one, which i love. :)
I SO WISH that they would pick up Dr. Katz for Adult Swim...my eternal lament. sigh.

as to Harvey Birdman, i don't know, never got into it; i've only seen like 2 though.

and i saw part of one Saddlerash but don't really remember much. And right now i'm not placing Welcome to Eltingville, though i know i've seen it at least once....hmm.

anyway Biz, you know if you want to debate any of this ever i'm always around! yay!

I'm boycotting the local cable company because they won't carry Food Network.

*pppbbbbbbbbbbbbbbt!*

I do miss Cartoon Network though.

Won't. You know those commercials that say "Call up your local cable company and request the BlahBlahChannel!!"? Well we did, and got the brush off. *sniff* The worst part is, the 'burbs we're in end two blocks down and on the other side THEY get Food Network. But I'm moving anyway, so nyah nyah nyah. :P

hey shannon - the reason you've only seen a couple harvey birdmans is because they only made two. :) i can see how people who aren't into comics or superheros would find it less funny. it mostly makes fun of old school, really crappy heros that had no cool powers and no one liked. like the one with the apache chief - they made fun of his stupid "growing larger" power. and the other one was about johnny quest (the ambiguously gay custody battle over johnny and his little friend, haji.) anyhoo...

my bf said he's heard that adult swim is dropping SGCtC at the end of this month. i don't know if they're just not showing it, or if they're not making new eps. i can't imagine them making new eps if cartoon network drops it though. where would they air them? so this could be good or bad, depending. maybe if people clamor to have it back they'll work harder on them and make less half-assed shows. then again, this is rumor, and i'm too busy (and lazy) to research it.

btw, if saddlerash ever airs again, you really should watch it. it's made by the people who do home movies, and maguirk (i forget his real name right now) does the voice of the "bad" guy. it's totally funny. he plays this apathetic bad guy who's holed up in the desert, except he hates the desert, and hates being in hiding, and is completely filled with unending depression and ennui. all of his friends want to go cause trouble in town and beg him to go and he's just like "nah... don't feel like it..." and goes back to trimming his bonsai. they ask if they can bring him dinner back and he's like "sigh...nah...i'll find something...whatever..."

i'm 300% positive that you would love it. and if you don't, well, then you can smack me upside the head and call me an adrienne barbobot.
