By Shannyn On 06/15/02

Okay, I got a new lil kitten, she's a siamese kitty, who might be mixed. I need to think of a name for her, but here's what I've come up with so far.
*Lily
*Aurora
*Diana
*Pearl
*Traffic *haha*
*lulabelle
*Velcro *haha, again, she never leaves me alone, and always climbs up my back & holds like velcro..but I don't think I want a silly name like that*

Should I use any of those, or do you have any ideas? I like really cool unused names..I just can't think of any!
thanx, shannyn

I love all the names... but I think I like Velcro the best! It's cute and original. I also like Lily.

My cats names are: Fu'shan (a black cat with way too much attitude) and Mei'lin'g (a calico who was homeless and is the sweetest thing around)

They both went nameless for about a month when I first had them.

Good luck with your kitty!

I like Velcro! It's so original. You could always call her Vel for short.

I LOVE VELCO! if you want something more feminine, what about Velma? or Violet? or Vivvy?

actually, i really like the name Lila, too.

i found a fabulous cat at a shelter today, and im so in love with him. hes humongous with long luxerious black fur. hes really social and drools when hes happy! yall, please encourage me to get him, i think ill explode if i dont. <3

spanishfly--

im trying! im trying! im attempting to butter up my boyfriend as i type.

though i think declawing (or any kind of body alterations on animals, ie tail/ear clipping, perms, blah blah) is unethical, this particular cat is already declawed. im using that as a plus with my main man, cause a cat with no claws cant destroy his amps and speakers! i really like this cat cause he's older. my heart always swells when i see older cats at shelters... the young ones and kittens go like hotcakes, but the old ones just sit. wish me luck!

so shannyn, what kitten name did you choose?! the suspense is KILLING me!!

By Shannyn On 06/15/02

Later I thought about Velma..kind of a feminine Velcro. I like lily tho. Hmmm..Luna? haha.

By rubysoup On 06/15/02

ooh, i like lily. i think it's adorable. velcro would be cute too :)

my cat had three kittens about 4 weeks ago and even thought we're going to have to give them away, I named them, just becaues it's better than "hey you...". My youngest brother named his favorite Big Head(for the ovbious reason being that she has a HUGE head for her little tiny body), Baby Girl(she's sweet and the smallest of all the kittens), Mia(the only orange one and the one I'd like to keep) and #12. just because.

happy naming!

My dog's name is Pearl! How bout Jezebel, or Ms/Mr.Bojangles? Velcro is nice too.

I like the name Luna.

I'm going to name the next pet I get (whenever that is) Fukusan, in honor of Iron Chef. There's that one guy (forget his name) who's down on the floor with the chef's so he has all this 'insider info'. Then he interrupts the commentators to tell them his info by saying "Fukusan!" I think it's so cute.

I just have to add, along with everyone else, that Velcro is supercute! I always like to name animals based on what they do or resemble. Basically what they tell me their name should be. Hence, the name Velcro is really cool.

Oh, I also like Chulo/Chula...cuz it means cute :)

Not that this is really a good name, but I always wanted to name a dog Nunya, so when people ask me what's my dog's name, I can Nunya...?....Nunya bizness!
But I'm weird...

I like your list, especially Lily. Maybe you could wait a few weeks and see which name fits her personality the best.

I adore Velcro! I love when animals have bizarre names like that!

A related story, when i was younger, maybe 11 or 12, me and my sister got a cat. We couldnt decide what to name it, so it ended up with me calling it Daisy, my sis calling it Tabitha, which she then shortened to Tabby, which she then shortened to B. The poor cat ended up with an awful complex and only responded to Kitty. It was so cute :)

I have a grey long-haired kitty named Luna. She is my moon goddess. My roommate has her sister and named her Penelope but it doesn't seem to fit yet.

my kitty's name is cheshire (and so is mine.. hmmmm... lol) after the cat in alice in wonderland. if i ever get another cat im gonna name it figaro (sp?) after the cat in pinoccio (sp again?). i think velcro is super cute! a friend of mine has a black and white cat, and i call him moo-moo. teehee. and i think gwen is an awesome name, and i wanted to name my dog that but my mom didnt like it :(
and elixerbeth (is your name elizabeth? me too! that is cute) definitely needs to get shelter kitty.

By jtsang On 06/17/02

I had a friend whose cat was named Alley b/c she was from a shelter and her b/f at the time kept calling her Alley cat, so the name stuck...

My dogs name is Velma. I think it's a great name. But, then, I'm obviously biased.
My dad always calls her Velcro. Heh.

Cats aren't usually my thing, I'm definitely a dog person. I hold nothing against cats, I just need needy pets. The only cat experience I've had is when the ex and I rescued a kitten from the attic in college. His name was Spencer, but everyone called him Booger.

edited to add: Richard Gere's cat in The Runaway Bride is Italics (he's a writer, and I think it's a very cool name.)

By Pia On 06/17/02

my cat's name is gonna be WASABI !!!!!!!!!!

By violet On 06/18/02

violet- the feminie of VELCRO???

gee, thanks!

By frigginpeaches On 06/18/02

I think it is best to name cats after food or 1950s hookers. Hence, my kitty is named Ginger (which satisfies both). If I got another pet, I would name it Mango or Lola.

And I like Lulabelle the best.

By mystril On 06/18/02

Or gods and goddesses -- Venus, Mercury, Odin, Loki, Baldur, Coyote, Raven, Kali, Zeus -- all wonderful cat names.

Or Japanese food: Sushi, Wasabi, Pocky, Bento, Sashimi.

And the absolute all time best name I've heard for a kitten: Kamikaze

Though Velcro is veryvery good.
