Topic quick cure for an EVIL PIMPLE? Go to previous topic Go to next topic Go to higher level

Help! I have an awful pimple right on my lip line. It's hideous and it looks like a cold sore. I tried to pop it, but it's still there (I know I shouldn't have, but I'm very impatient). It's red and swollen and ugly. I feel like a troll of the night.

Does anyone know of a quick home remedy that works for pimples? I've been looking online, and I found something about putting honey on the "blemish" (I love that word, it's so old-fashioned). I've also heard of using toothpaste or vinegar, but do those really work?

I just need to get rid of this thing quickly! Please help.

i like lemon juice. won't make it disappear but after it stops stinging it really dries it out and seems to make it shrink down a little and be less red. could be in my head, but it always makes me feel better about huge nasty zits. and it would mix well with the honey. if the skin is broken at all from trying to pop it i don't recommend it, though.

I put toothpaste on mine and they dry up. (not the gel kind, real paste), but you already have that. To get rid of the red I have this stuff from physicians formula. It is green mud/cover up. The green color counteracts the red. Cant even see it, and something in it makes it heal fast.

I second the toothpaste. It works great. I'd also recommend putting a hot wash cloth on it, to open the pores. This seems to make things better. Do you have Clean and Clear acne gel in the U.S? It works really well too.

just a warning about toothpaste....

once i put it on a zit overnight, and I woke up with a severe chemical burn four times the size of my zit that took weeks to heal.

very bad...

i use tea tree oil. wet a cotton ball then put some on it (you have to dilute the tea tree oil a little or else it's too strong) and apply to area. the redness is usually gone the next morning.

jangrl. :)

it's not a cure, but visine gets the red out. a quick fixfor a night on the town or something. that's what i've heard anyhow.

cortisone cream sounds like your best bet, but don't do it regularly (i mean like for over a two week-period or something like that).

i *love* tea tree oil too, but i'm not sure about using it around your lipline -- might be a little too harsh.

good luck!

dermalogica sells a great product.....the name I cannot recall but in comes in a tiny squeeze bottle with a pointy grey top. it was great. I had a terrible habit of popping pimples and it really made them look less angry and repulsive. it is really soothing and well worth the money.

What I do and it works every time is a mud mask on the pimple and leave it overnight, but if you are in a rush go with the visine it gets the red out and always works a charm.

every gal should have a bottle of visine for a) clear un-bloodshot eyes b) for pimples and c)for those dramatic oscar winning hissyfits when you don't get your own way

for some reason, the ones on the lip line are especially difficult. i had one there one, and it swelled up the entire left half of my upper lip!

i recommend any thing with salicylic (sp?) acid to the bring that baby to a head. then, i say pop that bitch.

or, if you really want to get hard core, go to rite aide and buy their brand 'acne treatment cream' made with benzoyl peroxide, itll dry your pimple up in a heart beat.

i have baby bangs, so if i break out it tends to be under them. bangs are a great look, but they dont let yr forehead breathe.

By greengirl On 06/15/02

i have found that just putting ice on it helps remove some of the redness and swelling, and then i dont want to pick at them so much.

Witch hazel.

It's cheap and effective on any kind of bump or swelling. Swab it on with a cotton ball & you'll notice a difference in no time at all (most times in minutes).

:o)

I second tea tree oil! But I don't dilute it. I'm sure there are better places of getting it, but I know that The Body Shop has it in various forms.

No advice, but I have a lipline zit too! It hurts! But I haven't touched it, suprisingly. I'm going to go put some visine on it right now because I'm about to go wedding dress shopping with my mom and I don't want those mean ladies eyeing my lip!

Asprin. It's salycillic acid, pure and simple. Crush up a tablet, make a paste with water, apply, let dry, rinse off. Takes down the swelling like magic.

This is kind of exensive at the store but Biore blemish bomb works wonders. You can put a teeny tiny dab right over your big ass pimple and it will dissolve overnight. Like I said, it's kind of expensive but you use so little of it it lasts a long time.

An added note to the wash cloth suggestion:
If you keep repeating applying the warm washcloth (apply till its dry, then wet/warm it again, reapply, repeat) it should eventually dry up or at least form a head so you can pop that bad boy!
Yuck
I actually have a friend who *LOVES* to pop zits, she gets overly happy when she gets a popable one on her face, shes so wacky.
