i know this may sound gross, but i have this wonderful collection of old school 70's t shirts, and sometimes when i find them at thrift stores, they are pitty. very pitty. some of them are way cute, and i was wondering if there's some way to remove the stains, so i could save these t's. any suggestions? i tried bleach, but it wrecks anything colored or delicate, i'm looking for something a bit less caustic. thanks!

Actually there is a way to remove sweat stains (i'm assuming this is what you mean by pit stains) without bleach. I also am a thrifter and i know that the clothes i wear have been worn by others and therefore carry with them old sweat etc but when you can see the stains its kinda gross - anyways - vinegar!!! that's the way i try to soak just the stained area if possible in straight vinegar for a few hours - usually overnight - and then i just wash and voila no stains! now i'm not sure about how this works on all material and maybe you don't need to soak for that long but I just stick in the material and forget about it for while .. also it might be best to dilute the vinegar though I never have...

it also helps to hang them in the sun by the bottom part so the arm pits are very visible to sun.
