Topic Oliver's Twist? Go to previous topic Go to next topic Go to higher level

There is some new show on Food Network tonight with Jamie Oliver (the Naked Chef) called Oliver's Twist. it's on here at 9 pm (central). i guess i'll give it a shot tonight, as i like him; i'm just wondering why they're doing this one when his second show ("Pukka Tukka"?) never took off. i do like "The Naked Chef" though. :)

anyway, FYI!

I get the FoodTV weekly email. This is what it says about Jamie Oliver's new show: "We'll follow Jamie to his favorite food shops, then go back to his flat to watch him cook a meal for his mates." Isn't that **exactly** the same as his other two shows???

I like him, so I'll probably watch it too, but with a healthy sense of deja vu! :-)

yeah, i didn't even see a diff between PT and TNC. but hey, the Naked Chef by any other name is still surely as cool! so i'll watch, at least once. :)

As long as there's new episodes, I'm cool. I like it when he goes out to the shops, or cooks in a new place (I'm thinking of the NYC, holiday and Jamiroquai episodes of PT).

That starts tonight? Thanks for the reminder. I love Jamie Oliver. He's so cute and has a great accent!

i'm watching it now...these portuguese tartlet things look lovely!

did anyone else notice in the opening credit montage where they had him doing this incredible backflip from standing in the kitchen?? could that be real??

i'm giggling at the decor of his disco kitchen. mauve and periwinkle, whoo! ;)

also, had to wonder: where is the famous Jules, his wife?? He's got three single chickies over giggling, and no wife in site. hummm...

I watched the late viewing of Oliver's Twist after reading this thread. :) Man, Glitter can seriously influence how you watch TV! hee hee

Anyway, I saw that Jamie still wears a wedding band, so perhaps Jules just said she wanted no part of the new show- a la Aimee Osbourne?

God, I have to go find that chocolate tarts recipe online. I was drooling at the way he made that crust, but then the choco part...OH MAN! :)

Oh man! I only caught the end part of it, but it was still enjoyable. I want Jamie to come make me some of those chocolate raspberry tarts!

My roomie also made a comment about all the girls giggling around him. I told her that he was married, but she didn't believe me until I pointed out the ring.

my gawd, what more can he do!? meaning you know the show is just gonna end in him chowing it down doing the marbles in the mouth speak that we all love.
blah food network does need to pep it up, if i see one more ultimate kitchens with custom ovens and like 3 billion dollar freezers (give or take) i will scream.

By kprairiechick On 05/15/02

Oh yeah, marbles in the mouth reminded me. We noticed that this show has a lot more voice over by J.O. than the Naked Chef. (I never saw the second show, so I can't judge that one.)

I didn't particularly like this first Oliver's Twist episode, but I love Jamie Oliver so I'm willing to give the show many chances! I didn't like the way the girls came and sat there...reminded me too much of the typical Food Network shows like Emeril and Bobby Flay. Anyway, I was wondering if that might not have been his wife and/or her band singing the theme song. Does anyone remember the Naked Chef episode where he and the band, which his wife sang in, played? I can only vaguely remember it, but something in this new song reminds me of that. I remember her voice was kinda unusual...

I thought these shows were made in England for English tv, and Food Network just shows them. I didn't think they actually produced them themselves. That's why I always thought his shows were so different, but maybe I was misinformed?
