I *adore* She-Ra! Definitely my first feminist. She may wear pink, but she still kicks ass. Princess of Power, yeah!

By Georgie girl On 05/06/02

I just thought of the perfect Wonder Woman! (And I really have been giving this a lot of thought, which is pretty sad.) Jennifer Connelly.

By cleanout On 05/06/02

rumors about the wonder woman movie:>http://www.corona.bc.ca/films/details/wonderwoman.html

i'm hoping it's true that sandra bullock negotiations have fallen through!

yup, i'm a big wonder woman fan. i dig xena, she-ra, (do jem and the holograms count?) storm, marvel girl, batgirl, catwoman. man, once i get my but in gear, i'll post my halloween photos as wonder woman and xena. i have made myself all sorts of kick ass WW paraphenalia. a train case, business card holder, hair clips, etc.

By Bizwitch On 05/06/02

i like wonderwoman too, but i've really taken a liking to hawkgirl in the new justice league series. she's just so badass. in one ep they were sent to a sort of parallell-universe-in-the-50's place and met up with their counterparts. (catman, the streak, the green guardian...). anyways, the chick there (black siren) was very much a 50's woman. they all started to talk business and she said "let's let the men talk". hawkgirl looked sort of pissed and said "they can talk about whatever they want!" and didn't move an inch. (she ended up playing along and going in the kitchen to make cookies just to appease lantern. it was funny though, not degrading.)

and i must say that i loved the tomb raider movie. i know she's not a superhero, but damn the girl kicks ass. ;) and let's not forget buffy in the ass-kicking category. and she is kind of a superhero. her tombstone even said "buffy summers, she saved the world a lot."

she-ra didn't wear pink though: her outfit was white and gold, wasn't it?

now her dream castle or whatever it was *was* pink, b/c i had that playset thing to go with the action figures when i was like 5....

Princess Adora, her "I'm She-ra in disguise" counterpart, wore some pink "I Dream of Jeannie" kind of rag. And she did ride a (male) pink horse with rainbow wings.

I don't care, 'cause I love pink! And I know WAAAAY too much about She-Ra!

I used to collect Black Canary comics, before they stopped printing them. Black Canary rocks.

By cyan On 05/06/02

She - Ra is my favorite...I was her for Halloween 2 years ago...

By cyan On 05/06/02

Oh yeah, Elf Chick, I'm happy to see I have a fellow Sailor Moon fan here :) I just won the first 4 issues of the SM manga on Ebay... WOO!

By linfin On 05/06/02

don't really have any superwomen to add, except I think She-Ra wore light blue and gold...I don't really remember, will have to go pull out the old action figures.

Am also adding to list of badass babes:
Milla Jovovich in Fifth Element
Jennifer Garner in the TV show Alias
They both just kick major ass.

By elemental On 05/06/02

I'd like to give a shout out to Electro Woman and Dyna-girl...hahahaha, that show was so cheezy!

I loved Wonder Woman and Catwoman, and I wanted to be Red Sonja (from the comic book, NOT the movie)

Carrie Ann Moss (trinity from the matrix) really should play Wonder Woman.

By overcoat On 05/06/02

Tank Girl (Lori Petty) or Jet Girl in 'Tank Girl' so they weren't super heros, but they were sure great heroines. Saving the world from the evil water utility is a heroine in my book. Plus she dressed way cool. I so want to be Tank Girl for Halloween.

By mspancakes On 05/06/02

thank you elemental! Electro-woman and Dyna girl was my favorite!

I second kmd's recommendation of Rose McGowan for Wonder Woman.

By kmartdollie On 05/06/02

Jennifer Connelly would be a great WonderWoman, but she got rid of two kind of essential things for the part - her breasts! Did anyone else notice how scrawny, bony and flat her chest was in the chiffon dress at the Oscars? Jennifer Connelly used to have the largest breasts in Hollywood! Remember "The Rocketeer"???? What happened? I know there's such a thing as breast reduction but I found her flat, striated, stretched sternum-revealing chest kind of scary.

Tank Girl was good - never saw the movie but I loved the strip, and I really like Lori Petty. What happened to her? She was the spokeswoman for horseracing for a while, and then she sorta dropped off the face of the earth.

Ooooh, another candidate for WonderWoman - Sherilyn Fenn!!! THE PERFECT WONDERWOMAN, I think.

By Georgie girl On 05/07/02

I was going to post the same thing about Jennifer Connelly - she appears to have lost her gorgeous, voluptous figure. Even last year in Pollock she was so curvy.

By est On 05/11/02

I WAS Tank Girl for Halloween! Of course, this was back in junior high and most people had no idea who I was supposed to be, since I was one of the 10 people who ever even saw that movie. But I loved it so. The soundtrack was great, too.

I don't know if anyone else is familiar... but all the gals in the Bubblegum Crisis series kick major ass! I'm so jealous of my brother's DVD collection!

By brit-knitboy On 05/07/02

The Mis-Fits from Jem were way cooler than Jem's tin pot backing band.

They had much better songs - They were kinda like Kiss except a bit camper (if that's at all possible).

Does anyone remember their song "Making Mischief." ? Or am I very much alone in all this sadness?

By Elf_Chick On 05/07/02

britknit:

heh, i'm glad i'm not alone in likening the Mis-fits to KISS! and i vaguely recall the song i think; if i'm not mistaken, did it come on a tape that accompanied the dolls, or was it just on the show? maybe i'm thinking of Barbie and the Rockers (which was an evil thing in itself...euugh)

one of my friends in hs really liked Bubblegum Crisis; i think Nene was her favorite character (do i have the right show there? i only saw it a few times; i'm not much for mecha anime). {:P

I totally agree about the Jeane suggestion. She was so cute as the Bowler. And yes Trinity should have her own movie sequel.

Got bombarded with Xena stuff a few years ago for presents. Three Xena dolls, a t-shirt and a lunch box. When I had bangs kids used to ask me if I was Xena.

How about Death from Sandman? Can we count her.
