I consider the glitter forum one of the best craft groups I've encountered but I wanted to share my experience when I tried to join a yahoo group I found while I searching for SCP.

This group had a questionaire to answer before joining, it had a minimum post requirement or you were unsubscribed and you couldn't lurk for more than 3 days! I joined anyway and found it pretty much *useless*. People wanted to get their posts in so they would write just about anything so you had to fish through all these junk posts to get to the good stuff. I unsubscribed after looking through the posts a little while. I don't want to say the name of the group but I'm glad I don't have the stress of that group on my shoulders.

I was just wondering if anybody has had experiences like this with any other forums and if you have any other forums you are particularly fond of. Please give the names of the ones you like.

I haven't signed up for any other forums, but this one looks pretty cool:>http://www.nervousness.org/
It asks for a lot of info before you can sign up and since I haven't taken the time to explore the site thoroughly, I thought I would wait until I checked it out further. It doesn't have nearly as many people as glitter, but it looks like they have done some cool swaps.

www.gardenweb.com has a ton of really cool forums. I especially like the garden junk forum. The forums don't just concern gardening, there are a bunch of home, food and craft related forums too.

Nervousness.org is so highly addictive.. I consider it one of my favorite sites!

I haven't had any luck with the lmao's on nervousness - have you? I've signed up for about 8 or so, and none have gotten past the first couple of people, as far as I can tell.

i've never gotten an lmao either, but some of the exchanges i've done have been really great. i've only been burned a couple times. and the people that send really cool stuff more than make up for the bad ones, i think.

The lmaos on nervousness bite. I took myself off the list of the three I signed up for because they hadn't made it past the first couple of people after about 4 months.

and the lmao I created is lost in space somewhere. which is really sad, because it had a journal piece I wrote about my grandmother and crocheting, and my gandma passed away after I sent it, and now I'd really like to have it back.
>http://www.20things.org seems like a good idea, though. You have to have a finished project ready to send before you can be part of the final swap. Seems like a smart way to keep out the deadbeats.

hm, i've gotten a lmao (& would've gotten a second but i wanted to see the fun stuff others were doing & not be the first, so i asked to be made last) & so has my so... a lot of ppl are working to make sure that more lmaos make it thru by limiting the # of ppl signing up, using nervousness' new feedback system so you can figure out who the deadbeats are, etc.

the swaps are good, too. :)

i've had a pretty good experience on nervousness.org--and a few crappy experiences. i have created 3 lmaos--one made it home, two are still going around SLOWLY. I have done quite a few exchanges--mostly good. a few that never came to fruition.

i have also received quite a few lmaos, though none have made it home yet (i think). i did the last 20things swap--it was fantastic!

by the way, can you post the address for scp if you found it? i've been looking and looking....

thanks!
