Topic gluing glitter on denim? Go to previous topic Go to next topic Go to higher level

While I was at the thrift store this weekend I got some jeans that were unattractively and unfashionably tight in the legs. I took off the waistband (per the Getcrafty article's instructions), undid the side seams up to the bottom of the pocket, punched holes, laced up the sides to make them more bootcut and show a sexy flash of skin without freezing my butt off, and covered them with glitter. They were a big hit, but by the end of the night the glitter was almost totally gone. I used "OK to Wash It" permanent fabric glue, I think made by Aleene's. Part of the problem was that fabric glue is supposed to dry 24 hours and I let it dry more like 2, but also denim seems to present difficulties in gluing onto, since it's a coarser fabric with a tighter weave that makes it harder for the glue to penetrate. I tried diluting the glue, but that didn't work very well either. Anybody have any tips on type of glue, type of glitter, technique?

i would use some of that glitter fabric paint in the little tubes. you can cut off the top of the tube and glop it onto the denim, then use a brush to spread it around. it would take quite a few tubes to cover a whole pair of jeans, but you can get it for $1 a tube or less... that seems like the most permanent way to me.
