Topic What was so great about Larry?

Don't get me wrong. I like Larry. He was quite funny, a good courtroom opponent, made for lots of interesting dialogue with the other characters, especially Ally. I liked how nice he was to people like Kimmy and Elaine, whom other people might not have much time for. I just don't think he was the most wonderful character on the show, or that it really lost anything when he left. So why does everybody else think he's so great? He was a little bit of a jerk! He had both an ex-wife and a son with another woman, who lived in another city and didn't get to see him much, all because Larry couldn't control himself when he was around his ex-girlfriend. He didn't even have the guts to say a proper goodbye to Ally both of the times he went to Detroit. So, Larry-lovers, post your thoughts! Was he a good guy who had lot of baggage? Were he and Ally meant for each other? Was he more fun than Billy? Or do you just really have the hots for Robert Downey Jr? :)

I just like Robert downey Jr, hehe. Na i dont know aye, i just thought larry was cool. He was a bit of a dickhead how he never said goodbye and how he never fort for Ally if he "so called" loved her. I think a good looking character with spunk people like him more rather than him being butt ugly. I can't really compare him to Billy because I havent seen the eps for so long but I love Robert Downey Jr which is probably part of the reason i like larry aswell.

Here's my thought about Larry..I think Larry and Ally was a really cute couple..We all saw Ally with Billy and they had a great chemistry,great love which managed to cry me when Billy's death.. But I feeled something different with Larry..He's hmm how can I tell..He's the man side of Ally McBeal..He's an "Ally" man.. :) I think you see me?I do love Larry than Billy...One of the reason is I think Larry teached a lot of things to Ally and some of them are really hurt to Ally...When he left Ally,she's still going on loving Larry and missing him..So yeah there's something different something special between them..I think that I know the mind of Ally.. and I can see that why she loved Larry so much.. Seriously, I never even considered Robert Downey Junior as good looking until I saw him as Larry. He may have been afraid to face some of his problems, but that just proved that he was human. Him and Ally had the ability to understand each other, and they saw things in each other that no one else saw. And as many times as I've said it, I don't get sick of it: They had a chemistry that no other relationship Ally had could top - even with Billy. But I guess that's only a matter of opinion.

I think that Ally and Larry simply had "chemistry". I know that Larry`s character had a lot of problems with his life, his kid, his ex-wife, but i like him for Ally. Producers thought the same, cause I heard that if it wasn`t for Robert personal problems, Larry and Billy would get married at the end of that season. I also likme his character cause he sings! and we all know that music was veeery important topic in the show. Watching again season 5, i though that Mathew perry was a great one for ally. I dream for a while a 6th season with him, cause Friends will end next year, so 2005. ally 6th season... just dreaming!!! www.ally.com.ar

I'm pretty sure you meant that at the end of the season ALLY and Larry were going to get married, had it not been for RDJ's problems. :) They never explored the relationship with Matthew Perry's character and Ally enough...so I really don't know how well they could have worked together.

Yeah, I think Larry marrying Ally's dead ex-boyfriend is a little too far-out even for this show. ;) Matthew Perry's character didn't make much of an impact on me, it seemed more like stunt casting to get the show some attention. I'll give him one thing, though: he was more fun than Victor.

I agree 100%. I didn't find Victor interesting at all. They tried to build something up with his character...it just didn't work at all.

HALLO, was it because of Roberts personal promlems that Larry and ally didn't get married? NOOOOOO, I really liked larry, and they should have get married. hulk. i would like to see there wedding! and there is someting special about larry, and it dosn't matter that he had a ex wife and a child... he was funny, sang... oohh.. LOVE HIM! he was better than billy, i liked billy in the start, but there is something not so great over him... and DON'T forget that he wasn't gonna "waste" love on Ally - grr - and larry is just so much better. and i agree, Victor is a little boring (I remember).. LARRY COME BACK IN SEASON 6! (and please make a 6th season!)
