Topic Just how successful is MitM? Go to previous topic Go to next topic Go to higher level

Hi,

let me first introduce myself:

I am from Germany and I absolutely LOVE this show, I think itīs the best I have ever seen. I used to watch it here in Germany, and I found it pretty boring. Then I downloaded the US version from the emule and IT WAS SO COOL. Itīs amazing how much got lost due to poor translation and crappy German voices for the actors.

So, I just hope this show is REALLY successful in the US, so that there are many more seasons tom come (I know the next one is about to start in November).

I did some research on the net to find out HOW successful MitM is in the US, and found some tables where it ranked between 25 and 45. I found this a little disappointing, as well as ratings such as 6.6/13. Does this mean just 6.6 percent of people in the US watch it? That seems not much too me...
Though I have lived in the US for a year in 1994, I have absolutely no idea what the tv ratings mean! For instance, is 8.0/14 good?

I would appreciate if anyone could tell me how much of a success the show is, is it REALLY big, is it quite good, or sort of an also-ran?

Tanks, Chris

The show is not quite as successful as Friends, which is still the top comedy in the U.S., but it's up there. It's also definitely one of the top-rated comedies on FOX, and consistently gets tons of Emmy nominations, so don't worry, it's not in any danger.

6.6/13 are Nielsen ratings. I don't remember exactly how they work, but 6.6 is a "share," and each share is something like around a million people. To put it in perspective, a new episode of Friends averages around 15.0, a new episode of Becker averages around 7.5, and a new episode of Alias averages around 5.5.

Malcolm in the Middle is returning for a sixth season. The show must be doing well since it has been renewed for another season.
